if you want more fruit toss some roadkill under them. pawpaws are pollinated by flies not bees

young catalpa? I would have guessed paw paw and hickory also first. Is the leaf compound and what does the fruit look like? Native?

Ok Forester is excluded, Danny it is a Magnolia but what kind? And it gets one of its names from what the fruit looks like.

nope not catalpa - leaf too narrow - guess its not a pecan as that would be a type of hickory

Chancey is right it is a Umbrella Magnolia or Cucumber tree. Ok Forester can probably give you the scientific name.

Umbrella or Cucumber trees are pretty neat when you run across them in the woods. Not something you see everyday around here.

I’ve never seen one, but work in the SE a lot. Had to look it up in my Flora of Tennessee Book.

Seen these today north of Shady lake over in Arkansas, took the wife on a round about as I call them for Mothers Day. My wife has an Associate Degree in forestry so see enjoys a trip through the woods and she worked around that area when she was in High School for the USFS.
