Yes, Black headed. Their song is wonderful. They like heavy wooded areas, and are generally uncommon. Their bright black and orange tux is very appealing.

Where are you at in ND? It would be a fairly common bird in the western part of the state but uncommon in eastern part of state.

I am N Central. I thought it was a poor colored Oriole at first. Once it landed and I could see it good I figured it was a grosbeak. There are no heavy wooded areas for quite a ways, I have some tree rows.

Gulo, I don't see a lot of them. It may be the first one I have seen at the feeder, but I am not sure. It was the first one this year for sure. The Rose breasted grosbeaks have left. They did not stay long. But there was a half a dozen anyway. The golf finch are starting to show up good now.
