On one of my remington 788s the threaded collar that the rear bolt on the stock threads into broke off. I have two 788's. One in 243 and one in 308. Do not send them to Remington. I was told you will get a money Voucher and not the gun back.
God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

take it to a smith and have it silver soldered back in place, no biggy. Do not over torque the action screws. I would also have that smith glass bed it, so its done correctly.

I would also have that smith glass bed it, so its done correctly. this , have it bedded in the stock and purchase a F.A.T wrench 25 inch pounds is plenty make them even at 25 and stop if you wrench on them trying to compensate for an ill fitting stock this is when you break things like this , it may have been a factory defect but Rem is out of business , rem-arms is the new company F.A.T wrench https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1007367010?pid=718023
