On one of my remington 788s the threaded collar that the rear bolt on the stock threads into broke off. Can it be fixed and how would u fix it? [Linked Image]

Here's a pic of one it's the collar right behind the trigger assembly.
Thanks
Ps if it can't be fixed I'm not sending u the gun so don't try grin

22-250. What caused it I have no idea. It wasn't like that the last time I shot it. Got it out a week ago to bed the action then float the barrel. Noticed something loose when I picked the gun up. Haven't shot it a lot and only took it hunting I time or two. Bought it maybe 6 years ago.

Brazed on I believe. Find a gun smith. I hope it's fixable.

I am not a gunsmith or even really competent. But I'd keep shooting it if I was the owner. I've shot a 58 Remington 20 gauge since I was 12 that had a break across the receiver. A 22-250 it will outlast your children before issues come from that. And like I said. That is just me

I have two 788's. One in 243 and one in 308. Do not send them to Remington. I was told you will get a money Voucher and not the gun back.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

take it to a smith and have it silver soldered back in place, no biggy. Do not over torque the action screws. I would also have that smith glass bed it, so its done correctly.

Do NOT send to Remington.

Those parts were sold to certified Remington repair shops decades ago.

Google certified Remington repair shops and start calling phone numbers to first locate a part.

Then find a knowledgeable gunsmith to make the repair.

this , have it bedded in the stock and purchase a F.A.T wrench 25 inch pounds is plenty make them even at 25 and stop

if you wrench on them trying to compensate for an ill fitting stock this is when you break things like this , it may have been a factory defect but Rem is out of business , rem-arms is the new company

Why would Remington keep a 788 and give you a money voucher

I have heard that several times, not sure if it's true. None of my 788s would ever get sent there.
