First thing I would check is to see if you have compression. If there is no resistance when you pull the handle , likely no compression. If you do not have a compression tester , take out the spark plug and see if it pushes air out.

It is my opinion that you either broke the connecting rod or a valve is stuck open.
If the blade is turning with the pull cord nothing is broken there, but if is easy to pull over there is a lack of compression (stuck valve or the piston is no longer moving) This sounds right, cuzz it seems like only thing movn is the blade.
