My push mower started chattering then died The blade turns freely ,when I pull the rope the blade spins but there's no resistance , what would you guys think is there a key or something that turns the engine or is the engine shot?

First thing I would check is to see if you have compression. If there is no resistance when you pull the handle , likely no compression.
If you do not have a compression tester , take out the spark plug and see if it pushes air out.

It is my opinion that you either broke the connecting rod or a valve is stuck open.

If the blade is turning with the pull cord nothing is broken there, but if is easy to pull over there is a lack of compression (stuck valve or the piston is no longer moving)

250 for a cheap push mower and 200 for a new briggs engine.
