A couple of weeks ago. I got hit by some frost at the ranch with my vine plants. I went a couple days later and cut off all black frost hit leaves. Went back yesterday to see how they were, and they look good and some new growth and looks like I dodged the bullet. Very Lucky.

Everything is up and doing great.

Most of my early garden is in with strawberries doing well, potatoes coming up along with peas and onion sets. Had to put up a fence as rabbits are an issue. The 2nd garden closer to Lake Michigan is about 1/3rd in with two plots of corn, cucumbers and my cool season plants, brocolli, cauliflower and cabbage. It is really dry here so I am holding off on tomatoes and peppers. Green beans in but not up.Some more carrots to go. Still getting fairly cool here at night so soil temps are still in the lower range for many plants and seeds. Asparugus is doing well and the rhubarb is flourishing.

We’ve been eating out of the garden for the last week or two. Have picked close to 35 gallons of beans. Hopefully start making some pickles this week

A friend of mine gifted me with a nice tomato plant back in April. I believe it is called a 4th of July plant. I have had to cover it several times and put a treble light under it with a cardboard wrap on a few nights. But as of today, I have 4 small tomatoes hanging on about the size of shooter marbles. For you older fellas you know what I mean. smile

I ate a few premy strawberries today. I cheated a bit. Not quite ready yet.

Planted spuds just after Saint Patties day , then the salad row , cabbage and onions over the next week or 2 after the spuds . Got Bush beans in on Saturday and pepper plants and tomato plants too. Been raining here every afternoon so garden got too wet to plant in on Saturday afternoon, did hill spuds for the first time and everything else is up and good but cabbage. Hope to get the 3 sisters in this weekend and the odds and ends of vine crops.

In yet? We are already getting new tomato plants ready to plant as the first ones are about done. Dug up all the potatoes and now we are putting in sweet potatoes. We plant early down here and I normally get two summer gardens, normally getting tomatoes up to November. My favorite garden is the fall and winter garden.

Just mowed off my peas and 1st green bean vines. Both yielded very well. Cauliflower came during the heat and real dry weather, hard to keep it from bolting but got 10 good heads. Broccoli is outstanding with small heads coming on now that the rains have come. Carrots look good, cucs are doing okay, onions are soso as they like it wetter and cooler, at least for me. Green peppers are going great guns. Lots of tomatoes on the vines, will see how they develop. Zucchini as always yields well. Sweet corn which I usually to really welll with is horrible for me this year. Spuds are still very green with a lot of vines this year. Need to wait to see what is underneath.
Planted 50 new strawberry plants this year, they basically sat there waiting for the rains and now are setting runners like crazy.
Good to see pics of how others do things, helps with future planning.
Bryce
