If I even left my home, it would be to he transient on the Mississippi river system on a houseboat.....north in the summer, South in the winter. Interesting, but what state would you be a resident in?

Interesting, but what state would you be a resident in? TX so that you didn't pay income tax on your SS or other income and it is the only state without income tax close enough to the Miss that you could reasonably get there and back in a day if you needed to do something in TX although if you have no car , not sure if they have motorcycle inspections my grandparents did that for about 15 years , first winter they stayed in TX to establish residency.

I vote Arkansas too. North Central specifically. We are going there next month to look around for a place to move to. We started with a map of the the US and narrowed it down to about 15 states. From there we spent weeks researching and ended up with Arkansas. Being as you are from MN, Snowball, AR. is a rural spot in that neck of the woods. Pretty country.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

I asked a retired military guy that still contracts to do high level security work for the government, if things went totally south here where would a guy move to? His answer was Poland. But I didn't get into detail as to why and that was before the Russia/ Ukraine thing. It isn't bad enough here for me to move though. I'm sure one could get a good job in Poland teaching the natives how to screw in light bulbs. Your money would go a long way. When I was in the beverage industry summer help came here from Poland. Those guys were engineers, architects even school teachers. Apparently working a summer here was twice or better than what their yearly salaries were in Poland working their profession. Crazy!

Argentina, and Chile are on my shortlist. Any good arguements? Argentina has a current inflation rate of 109% so you may want to revise your list

Retiring couple we bought this place from moved from MO to somewhere near Duluth. Last I heard, they like it. Know another couple what left MN (for obvious reasons) but they moved to SD. Have a friend in SD who wanted to move to MO Ozarks. One of big advantages of MO for geezers and geezerettes is low property taxes, plus we like our guns, property rights, food and if you like trapping varmints, we have an endless supply.
Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

And stay out of states with Tornados..wild fires...floods.. Hate to break it to you Nessy, but you can have tornados in any state. True that they aren’t common, but you can still have them. Lived in Ks all my life, and have seen a total of three, all when I was driving to other places. Not many places you can go to that there is not a down side of some kind!

If I was to relocate, we have considered northeast Tennessee. Can someone tell me the advantages for living in Arkansas?

Our socialist in chief wants to pass a bill where MN would tax your retirement no matter where you go. WOW!!! You have to be kidding me! The donkeys just keep forcing people to leave MN with their governing now they see they are losing tax dollars. If they would be such a socialism liberal state, they wouldn't have that problem. MN is really the CA of the north and a very sad thing.

I haven't been to Mongolia in several years, but Mongolia is pretty much just like western Montana was 200 years ago; but you have a 4x4 rig. The differences are; in Mongolia there are no fences, no No Trespassing signs, no animal rights activists and lots of familiar game. Moose, elk, deer, wolves, foxes, sables, etc.. Along with ibex and several species of sheep. Very friendly people too. Before I went to Mongolia I read a travel guide book about the country. It advise against going to Mongolia if you are a vegan since you won't find anywhere in Mongolia that will accommodate someone with a vegan diet. Sounded like my kind of place. I'll bet if you have any amount of assets they'd let you in. I'm halfway serious about this. Easiest access is via; Seattle, Seoul Korea, Ulaanbaatar. When most people think about Mongolia, they picture desserts, that's only part of the country, the northern half (or more) is incredibly nice, especially for the outdoorsman. And the fishing is outstanding; very few Mongolians eat fish; they believe it's rather demeaning to eat fish, they think real men eat red meat. It's a very safe country also. Your biggest risk is the rare chance of running into an obnoxious derelict whose had too much vodka. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/06/full-6517-179003-mongolia_1.png)
