Since no one has a comment on a quick disconnect for a scope, how about subsonic ammo for a .308? Anyone shoot any? Have any preferences to manufacturer? Grain shot?

why would you shoot subsonic 308? what would be the effective range? 75 yards?

The few rounds I’ve heard at the range were quieter but not as much as you’d think. I’ve never pulled the trigger with one, I was a few benches down. Still loud, kinda like sub sonic 22rf still has a crack to it but louder. Like to hear them fired out of a suppressed rifle.
Didn’t see the quick detach scope question. But sounds pretty straight forward, buy detatch mounts (good ones)for a rail system. If rifle doesn’t have one, get one. Keep in mind, cheap rifles can be very accurate, but cheap optics & components is a real gamble…lol

my dads neighbor does ADC work including shooting deer inside the fence at an international air port , happens at night , , very few people know it happens and fewer when it happens mostly head security guy , the director that hires him and the tower supervisor know it is happening

although I think he uses 300blkout for a more ammo choices and faster twist barrels to stabilize the heavy slow

it is effective much further than you can reasonable predict the drop 220gr bullet at 1050fps about 75 yards for point blank 150 is you know the hold offs it gets to dropping quite quickly after 125.

I have had good success with subsonic loads listed in the hodgdon reloading data center. I am using a 165gr powder coated flat point bullet. A heavier bullet would be better but I was using what I had. Obviously, I started with a heavier powder charge and used the chronograph to work down to 1050 fps. they are very quite suppressed but not worth it for the loss of performance if not shooting suppressed.

Yes, will be shooting out of a suppressed rifle for night hunting. I’ve heard a suppressed 6.5 and .300Blackout shooting subsonic that literally sounded movie quiet from behind the shooter. Shots will be 100yds or less. Most ammo I’ve found is “custom” made from companies I haven’t heard of, but had great reviews. Landowners pay to have critters removed, trapping is one way, but they’ve all given their blessing for whatever means necessary…day or night. Mainly after hogs or any other target of opportunity.

There is load data for 150 grain bullets in 308 using Trail Boss. Start loads around 1150 fps. Max loads to 1,400 fps.

Didn't see anything heavier / slower, but didn't look that hard either.

Edited: Not sure what bullets would reliably expand at that velocity. Option B might be a slug gun. A 12 gauge Lee slug can be downloaded to around 1,100 fps at the muzzle and would put some hurt on a hog out to 50 to 75 yards.

They are very quiet but drop about a foot at 100 yards and don’t have much energy. Might not kill a hog.

Not what Wanna Be asked, but I learned quick that a heavy subsonic bullet is not going to cause enough damage to drop big pigs reliably. Unless, you brain pan them--which works. I still carry a suppressed 300BLK at certain spots where close shots are expected. I am about to work up some of the new Hornady Sub X's.

Otherwise, I shoot an AR10 in 308 at them. Still loud even suppressed.

Trail Boss is impossible to find and according to Hodgdon won't make the production schedule until next year. I've shot the 190 Sub-X out of a suppressed RAR in 300 Blackout, quiet but not what I'm looking for. The 90 XTP over 4-5 grains of Trail Boss is supposed to be stupid quiet and good on smaller animals out to 50-75 yards. I picked up a can of Red Dot in a trade to try and work up some of the 90 grain loads but haven't found my "roundtoit" yet.

My .22 LR RAR with the Sparrow mounted is stupid quiet with the CCI Quiet ammo (756 fps) and still very quiet with CCI subs.

If your not gonna Reload the I'd look at Ally Munitions. These guys are DEAD SERIOUS when it comes to ammo optimized for suppressed and short barrels. Comes at a premium price though but it's custom handload ammos so

Do you have any vv n110 to try? I worked up a load with vv n110 and 190gr sub-x in my 16” suppressed 300 blackout and it is very very quiet and accurate as well. It was shooting them all in the same hole at 50 yards but I haven’t had time to shoot further yet with this load.

Dont have my notes handy but I thought I used Lil'gun. .300 blackout stabilizes well, My AR 10in .308 is real picky on what speed I run, will keyhole some and is not safe for suppressor unless I run it real close to 1125 fps.
