I didn't know we even had Commercial turtle trapping. Did this come from the DNR or the Governors desk?

Minnesota can kiss their muskrat, puddle ducks, fresh water shellfish
and anything else that lives and grows in the aquatic ecosystem goodbye
if they enact a ban on commercial turtle trapping.

New York State banned Turtle trapping about 15 years ago
and the snapping turtle population exploded resulting in
the decimation of aquatic wildlife populations across the state.

The marshes, swamps, lakes, and every other type of water course
are now over run by snappers eating everything in sight.

The Otter population should explode-Otters eat turtles down south.

Turtles and otters, MN. has plenty of both, 26 commercial turtle licenses and limited otter tags populations would continue to expand anyway. As the song goes, "you ain't seen nothin yet MN." I added the MN.

Yes, we did. I did commercial turtle trapping and hooking for quite a few years and sold them to a local buyer who processed them. He sold the meat all over even Chicago.
I didn't keep my commercial license as he died. Once you didn't renew it and it lapsed, you couldn't reinstate it as a commercial license. But, you could still get a residential license for $25. You could only take 3 snappers, though. I used to have as many as 5 or 6 in one trap sometimes. There are no shortages of snapping turtles in MN.

I've said it before on here, but this phony governor is anti-sportsmen. Doubtful he could distinguish a beaver from a muskrat or a walleye from a northern pike. Probably thinks manual labor is some Mexican guy.

It would seem as if any little business or cottage industry that someone could make money off the radar will be illegal, taken away, everyone kept track of, tatooed, chipped, and enslaved without freedom.

Never thought I would say this but I'd rather have Dayton back in office.

Dayton had more common sense even when he was on drugs than this idiot does.

Stop buy licenses for one year and see if that will change their tune, why keep feeding a beast that’s out to end you anyway. I’d rather risk 1 year than the future of everything, make your stand either now or later but it’s coming to that the way is sounds like.

You can rest assured, if we stopped buying licenses for a year, they would just triple the license fee next year to make up the loss. That's how this outfit operates. crazy

Or just eliminate the license altogether like California did.
