Pro/cons to either style besides people capacity? Four would fit our family perfectly seat wise but not sure how I like the extra length. Would be for general use around the farm, outdoors, etc. No to very little trail riding.

You've already answered your own question - Family. Get it the first time . . . save $$$$ and capacity headaches. :-)

Pioneer 700-4. The back seats fold out of the way when you need to haul something.

Looks like he needs another year;-)

The biggest thing is what type of utv it is utility vs crossover vs sport.

Sounds like you're wanting a utility and several offer a bench seat style so a single seat often seats 3 on a full size machine, double seats and longer wheel base is ok on flatter ground but can be an issue depending where you can go ( steep ditches or culverts)

I've had 3 utvs so far

06 rhino 450 carbureted and just couldn't trust it on the desert hunting ( 2 seater) small enough you could put it in an 8 ft pickup bed if needed and fit in a horse trailer. really liked it

2016 570 midsize ranger 4 seater (crew cab) hated it as 4 grown men maxed out the clearance and hit every rock on the roads out hunting had to put new clutches in it at 2500 miles and was told it was made for the Midwest type terrain ( flat ground not mountains)

2018 viking full size seats 3 grown men ( middle seats sits back for comfort) and hunt and trap out of it . 4 others I hunt or work with have the same utv and all use them for ranch work or hunting/trapping best one I've owned

Might as well take the truck at some point considering the size these things are getting to be.

I thought the original concept was an all terrain scooter you could haul in the bed of the truck. Now they are as big as the truck and the truck ain't got no bed. How much longer before we haul our trucks in the bed of an atv?

A truck aint going where my polaris ranger goes. I have kids and grand kids. My ranger seats six fairly well. It is long - but I dont trail ride mountains - but I live in some piedmont type country and have no complaints. Six months out of the year - it lives in mud and water. I have a little over 4000 miles on it and all the bearings and joints have recently been replaced. Seemed like when I hit 3500 - they started going out. I am sure six months or mud and water dont help that. Have a neighbor with a yamaha viking - might look at them next time around. But, would not even consider one bench seat.

Driving mule with a back seat. In my opinion u give up some things when u go front and back seat. Not a fan of them for work or hunting.

I've posted these pics before. 2 & 4 seater. 4 seater folds up and extends the bed and reverts back to 2 seats. :-)

If you have a football field to turn one around in, go with the extended version. We had one at the plantation and the manager couldn’t wait to sell it, lol. It may be fine for farm work, but overall use it just didn’t work well. Yeah, it will haul a group of folks, but in the woods it’s not workable.

After looking at the 3 seater and 6 seater Yamahas I went with the 3 seater . Sure , it would be nice to haul extra people but it would take up all the available space in my old toy hauler . The turning radius would be horrible . And it looks like it would high center pretty easily . And it was more money

After looking at the prices of the new utv's, I am seriously considering a restored jeep CJ 5.
I will keep my Honda Rubicon atv for the real tight spots.

Buy a Suzuki Samurai, seats four, cheaper, comes with top, doors, windshield and heater for no extra cost, and you will get a lot more miles on it. Plus it is smaller than many of the new four seater UTVs.

We got 2 seater wolverine, and like it. 4 seater is way to big to go in areas I like.

Let me sugar coat this
