June 2020 the farm was dealing with a coon explosion we trapped 41 in 7 days , my fault for not gang setting DPs the first night when all the traps were full I added 2 more , then again and again, initial complaint they said 3 little dinks running barn to barn during the day 41 later I was finally getting untouched traps.
all these were from less than an acre of woods near the barns other than that nothing but field and pasture for a mile in every direction , any trap not in that little woods was untouched
I looked back week of June 15th approx.
I don't think any of those were nursing they were already about 2 pounds and running around in 3s without mom
I am a little further south than you but not that far that it should be months different
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I am sitting 10-15 miles of the border with ILL and different years are different but I would expect they be done nursing very soon
there are no shortage of them with no pressure

Ksnow I wonder if with as late of a spring as we had if the Sow lost her first litter they may have a June litter.
the are only supposed to have one litter 63 day gestation in March-April but if they loose a litter may have a second in late May or in June
and of course we know they don't always get the memo that they are supposed to follow the calendar , someone posted a August fawn picture last year so not ever animal follows the rules in the field manual

I have always heard that a coon has a 25 mile range. Not every night but they will roam that far. Not sure how true that is but I believe it.
I BELIEVE IN MY GOD, MY COUNTRY AND IN MYSELF.

I'm close to you K snow, I've seen coons out during the day several times so far this spring. That is unusual behavior. How far they travel, can't say. Around here I don't see the need to travel far. Don't think the excessive dryness has effected them yet. All the creeks and ponds have not dried up and too early for fruit and ag crops.
Same here, seen them out at weird times. There's still plenty of water around, my creek is a bit low, but still running. Pond is still full. Crops are barely up, so thats not a draw yet. We'll see.
