There is not much other option if you want to eat duck. you could sit at decoy for days and never see a mallard. the Delta is so huge.

If it's legal where they are, you should have no gripe. Some people hunt for food and the food is all that matters. To each their own.

Spring looks a lot like winter up here. But that is spring.

Last year i went to Wyoming in late March. I drove over to Inuvik on an ice road on the Mackenzie River. Got to Wyoming and the snow was all gone on the ski hills. Flew home a week later and drove back home on the ice road.

We aren’t allowed to spring beaver trap here because we might disturb the ducks.One extreme to the other.

I really respect the sacrifices you guys make so that ducks can make it up here. I get 4 or 5 mallard a year so I'm not taking a huge #. But duck is one of my favorite meals. Our duck return this year was really low compared to other years. May be because the spring was comparatively long.

That’s a pretty stupid rule. No reason you shouldnt be ALLOWED to shoot ducks while you’re checking your beaver traps. Fall birds taste awful compared to spring birds too.

That Wisconisin rule must have been made by legislators who have never left the city and only experience with nature is from what they see in ponds in municipal parks. But there may be a whole different types of ducks that nest in Wisconsin. Or they be at a sensitive time during there migration? Do you know the basis for that legislation Mad Scientist?

Right now I agree with Ryan and Boco that its stupid. The Wisconsin Dept. of Infastructure probably pays to have them same beaver removed of killed in the summer once they start plugging up culverts and drainage ditches.

The law is to help the ducks rest during migration and they threw in vulture nesting-oops bald Eagle nesting as a kicker.But the yahoo’s driving there mudboats with the Black Death motors can run the bottoms all they want.
