I do. Put a little water in the bottom to keep it from burning as it starts and leave the lid cracked so the water can evaporate

My family and I use the meat grinder right into the crock pots on low to get everything started and then turn things up a little once it gets going. Not too hot don't want it to fry and give it a good stir once in a while. Always comes out perfect.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

I have not rendered lard, but have used a cast iron dutch oven to render beef kidney fat for suet and tallow. Lard would work the same way, as traditional way was rendering lard in a large cast iron kettle over a fire.

Good part with lard is the cracklins. Do not feed those to the dogs. They are not worthy. You eat those yourself.

Never used a crock pot.I run the fat through my grinder with the largest plate I have. Then simmer in a stainless steel pot.Strain when done.I put the cracklins into ham bags and hang in the smokehouse for a few hours.Delicious snack,,,the dog loves it and great trapping bait.Plus,,you have all that great lard for frying and pie crust.

Now there is an idea. Smoked cracklins down a dirt hole. To die for.

I render my bear fat in a crockpot. I'm very picky about the fat and make sure its clean, white, and no meat. Put it on low. Pull floaties out as the accumulate. Pour through multiple layers of folded cheese cloth into mason jars and freeze until i'm ready fora new can.

To really render down I think we probably did somewhere around 5-6 hours if I recall correctly
