It can be tough. I have this nice maple in my yard that I planted as a seedling. As it got fairly tall, it was growing towards my house so I put a roped sling on it. That worked for a year but then right above where the sling is attached, the top half of the tree is aggressively growing towards the house. Strange. The red line indicates the trees general path. If you attempt this, I hope you have better luck.

The 'kink' is so high up that it'll be hard to fix now.

Hardwood trees grow towards the sun, cut a few of them pine trees behind it and give it some sun on all sides and it’ll straighten itself.
