Just picked my boat up from being fixed after the 27 year old flimsy transom support decided to break. Took it to a local guy here with an idea to remove the existing support and all the wood in the transom and replace with a new aluminum system that had 2 supports instead of 1. I appreciate good craftsmanship when I see it, and I can't weld worth a dang, let alone weld aluminum. Really pleased with how it turned out. The catfish/hunting rig is back in business!

Great fabrication and welding. The transom is better than new and will hold up. Looks great to me! Happy fishing!

That should get the job done but those open ends look like a bee hive waiting to happen.

… you jacked up the transom with a 15 horse?

Insert profound nonsense here

doesn't matter what the HP is when it is bouncing down the road on the trailer that causes the damage.

it is very nice work

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Savell, that poor boat has been through more mud than most four wheelers. Years and years of beating and banging off logs, beaver dams, and mud flats along with trailering finally did her in

I fixed my own put two pieces of 3/4 plywood I had, painted both side and edges and put inside a steel plate so when I turn the screws to tighten up the motor they won't leave a imprint.

The transom itself was fine, it was the factory transom support that broke. I figured while fixing that might as well do the whole deal

How much did that set you back? Around here they'd charge about 1/2 the value of that entire boat and motor.

About 200 lbs of motor there. Heavy enough.

DD26 Transom Savers are worth the $$$ for any good outboard motor. :-)

Right about $450. 150 or so in materials and the rest was labor

Unfortunately dd26 isn't in the jon boat/15 hp market grin grin

A transom saver has been used when trailering this boat since I've had it. That is not the issue. The issue was the poor manufacturing/design from the factory and abuse of the boat over the years. The flimsy factory aluminum finally gave way
