I cant stand eating fish with bones in it. Me too! I’d be offended if I was served that. I’ve gone on a few fishing trips with others where some old guy filleted the fish and cooked them. They always left the bones in. Ruined my whole meal! Sitting there picking bones out every bite. Can’t even enjoy the food like that. I don’t let others fillet or cook my fish any more. This my house! Im with you guys on this one.Ill stick with my boneless fillets.

I grew up eating them whole too. It was a sin to filet a crappie. Fry them jokers whole
My grandpa showed me how to use their fins to pull the whole ribcage/backbone out in one piece. A feller that knows what he is doing can eat them with no worries about getting a bone
He used to say they tasted better on the bone, but I think it came from harder times. We have the luxury to filet fish, they needed to make every ounce of fish count.
Gotta live up to the nickname...

any one try that with bullhead , they are in the catfish family but stay smaller all the time you can fish them in unlimited numbers ……….. if a bullhead is the same thing we call a mudcat… even colored folk won’t eat one if the ebt card still has 10 cents on it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_bullheadhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_bullheadthey could be called mud cats down there , I searched mudcat and it said that was a flat head but the internet doesn't know regional terms. they are not bad fresh in cold water in the spring , but by the heat of summer they can have mushy meat , they live in about every little pot hole, pod or puddle and most people here catch them to use as bait for big flat heads. my neighbors nephews like them , they like to eat what they catch and they can go to bloody lake camp and catch bull head right from the back of the camp site. he cleans and fries them , no limit and no size limit they go in spring as soon as it isn't freezing at night.

… well we stomp their bull heads down in the mud around here… ain’t fit to feed a dog That's cause your Mex,,,er Texas bullheads look like Ethiopian starving fish.Might be good bait for flys like on them starving african comercials. Our Great Northern Bullheads actualy have meat on them.Try stomping one of ours,,and youl have a quarter inch hole in the bottom your tender foot,,,up through your meskin fence climbing shoe,,right out the top.You best keep throwin fish guts and scales and all right in the fry pan like in your picture.Just spit out the parts that are too crunchy.

… I did have that exact thing happen as kid … went in good and deep… and had a mile and half walk back to the house lol Happened to my Dad when he was young.Fishing barefoot,,throwing the bullheads on shore.Steped on one and got a horn right up through the foot.Bad infection and had to have the foot lanced. They were mostly living on bullheads and woodchucks at the time.Bout 1933.
