Me an this ole gal was living in sin many years ago. She was on her way home from work one winter night and she had a flat. I was headed out the door coon hunting. I answered the phone and she told me her predicament. I told her to change the dad gum thing. She said it’s cold and I don’t have a flashlight. I cussed and moaned and reluctantly went and changed her tire. A few days later she got gloves and a flashlight for Christmas.
Seemed practical to me. She didn’t agree.

"Where I come from, it's cornbread and chicken... Where I come from a lot of square dance kickin'...."
Oh wait.... no that says it's where Savell is from.
Ok ok ok my heart break story. In the first grade I met an awesome boy. If you lived through the 80s you know what a rattail was and he had the best in class. I talked my mom into inviting my whole class to a halloween party when I was 8 just so I could invite him. It ended up with me in the hospital, but it worked. Me and rattail boy were besties for the next 6 months. I invited him to go camping with us, he was the one and only person I ever did. He carved his whole name (with my pocket knife, he said his mom didn't trust him with one) into the ol beech tree. I was in love. His parents moved to a different school district that summer, and I never saw him again.
I downed my root beers and listened to guns and roses for months, lol.

I get down the road looking out the windshield better than looking in the rear view mirror but I'll share. It was my high school sweetheart. Dated her for my last 2 years of high school then a year or so afterwards. She was a great gal. Her parents had a nice ranch that was understood me and her would take over in the near future. But me being young and stupid I decided I didn't need to be tied down and needed to see the world so we broke up. Hope she had a blessed life because she was a sweet girl.

… I’m still loyal to my raising on old country. But we’d plug in that tape attached to a cd player in the truck and spin some stuff harder than Charlie Daniels back then lol

Tape attached to a CD player? My God I'm old. We'd attach that boombox to the record player to make cassettes, lol.

[quote=Savell]… but were good looking enough that you wanted them too..
…When the timeless ballad “smoke rings in the dark” came out I was 19 and living in a shack on a dammed up creek ….and had a surround cd player … ended up playing that song on repeat and drinking lone stars that I swear had a hole in them somewhere and smoking marlboro reds every night for a week
…. She had broke it off with me just because I went frog gigging instead of riding to town for her high school graduation
… let’s here y’all’s stories of love lost and what have you from your younger days… or days you’re currently in if you’re a young one

My first girl was batcrap crazy, but I didn't care. I loved her so much, she could lie right to my face, and I knew she was lying, but I still convinced myself she wasn't lying. She was awesome, but had a wondering eye. We rode school bus together and started running around when we were 15, she'd check coon traps on the creek with me and when I was 16 (1996) we'd hit backroads and I'd drink bluetops (lonestar light), and she'd drink boones farm.
Had to walk away though, as she got in a bad wreck with someone she should not have been with. I stayed with her and her parents at the hospital the whole time. But after that; it was over for me; as I could not trust her. She came to the feedstore every day trying to get me back. Even her dad, who I respect greatly, came and asked me to go see her. But I never did.
Soon after that right after Y2K, I went to Johnson City with some of my farming buddies from Rogers and Rosebud to go deer hunting. We went to a little honky tonk outside of town and that was the first time I heard that song Smoke Rings in the Dark. An 80 year old couple danced so awesome to that song it blew my mind. Never will forget them.

Prettiest girlfriend I ever had dumped me because I went coon hunting too much. I told her she could come along but that just made her madder. That was 40 years ago and I still can't figure out what her problem was.
We had 2 pretty girls coon hunt with us but we were to young and stupid to realize they wanted more than coon hunting!
