You will get many answers and they will all be good good. I personally like mb750 and TS85. Whatever you decide to go with, I wouldn't use anything smaller than a #4

It's crazy but I just use conibears, check every day.
Set, check, and check pull Trap's.

Set heavy, get it done in 2 days.
And move on, let some one else try that spot .
By than people are curious of what's going on
and it's not your problem than.

If I know theft is most likely to happen, I go with snares.

If snares a legal option that is what I'd choose. They can be used on drowning rods. Many beavers have been caught in #3 coils intentionally. Just set them shallow for a front foot catch.

#4 longspring is my go to, although I've caught plenty in #3 over the years. I had some old jumps around I would set in areas I was worried about theft, because they worked, but I didn't like them so near as much as my longsprings. You can pick up used longsprings for not too bad a price. If you can use traps with teeth I like them for beaver and weld them on.

I trap exclusively on public / state forest land, so I use Duke 4 x 4 also. If I lose one, it doesn't hurt too much.
