My last three trucks have been gmc sierras. Just got a new one in March. Same guts in them as the Silverado’s but I like the gmcs. I had three f150s before that and also a dodge, won’t go back to those. Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

170,000 miles on my 2015 Colorado with only oil changes and 1 tune up. The Boy is getting mine this month when I pick up my new one. I can’t complain about the Colorado one bit.

Prolly because they're as much money as a full size truck I wish that were true, I priced both the other day and the Colorado is at least $10K less than the lower trim level full size 4X4's. A fairly well equipped Colorado comes in at $40K, the LT trim Silverado is going to run $50-53K.

Ford has really stepped it up as has GMC, Nissan, Toyota. Competition is fierce. Chevrolet is no different than GMC. Actually yes they are in the case of the new Colorado vs the GMC canyon I think there are 3 variations of the motor horsepower rating in the Colorado-GMC Canyon only has one.

I have been a Tacoma guy since 1982-never liked the Colorado or the GMC Canyon. Always heard people beat them up and say they are a POS.I have bought and leased Tacomas from1982,1985,1988,1990,1992,1994,1996,2000( first Tundra),2002 another tacoma and new Tacomas each 2-3 years after that-no issues to really speak of except poopy gas mileage. Just as Covid was hitting-I wanted another Tacoma-the dealer who I had been loyal to for all these years stated"6 months"-I said no way. Went to GM and they gave me a 2021 Sierra full load AT4 to drive for a week or so-they had about 20 to chose from LOL. Trapped with it for 2 seasons-but last fall and this spring I spent $1000 plus in fuel for the fall and spring seasons-crazy. So I made the decision to get a smaller truck again. But after having a big GM Sierra is was going to be very hard to go back to the gutless Tacoma with crappy mileage and the wait is no better or even worse than before-so the research started! The only thing I don't love about the new GMC Canyon is the short box-but I think that can be worked out if I can pack stuff efficiently and don't carry any non essential items while trapping. Guess we'll see cause I pick up my new GMC Full load AT4 on Friday LOL
GMC has done an amazing job re-designing there small truck and if they are as reliable as their Sierras have been in my 3 year experience-I doubt I will ever buy another Tacoma. Not to diss Tacomas-they are great and bullet proof-just I like the new GM's way more from what I can tell-Toyota has finally met its match-time will tell.
Go ahead beat me up guys If you only own a new truck 2 to four years max. you're probably not going to run into a lot of problems

Correct^^^^ You can't judge "reliability" on a 3 year period. See how many of those trucks are still on the road 15-20+ years from now Won't be many 2023 colorado's rolling around in 2043, but there will be a pile of 2023 tacomas rolling around
Gotta live up to the nickname...

Is the box on the colorado similar in height to a full size truck? If so how do you trap out of it, need a step ladder or open the tail gate every time. It's easy to reach. No stepladder needed on a 2008 Chevy Colorado.

Correct^^^^ You can't judge "reliability" on a 3 year period. See how many of those trucks are still on the road 15-20+ years from now Won't be many 2023 colorado's rolling around in 2043, but there will be a pile of 2023 tacomas rolling around There might still be plenty of Canyons and Rangers rolling around in decade or two but to me it’ll be more interesting to see how much $ gets dumped into them along the way to accomplish that. It’s possible Ford and GM found some magic fairy dust but that seems real unlikely if past performance is any indicator of future
