I released one out a cage trap on a friends land. After he was out I slapped the ground with a flat shovel.
He turned around and started charging me..

Zombeavers, although very hokey, and not something kids should watch, was actually an enjoyable movie, if you like movies that don't take themselves too seriously.
I very much enjoy the theme song , it's done in the old Frank Sinatra / Dean Martin style.
Now don't get me wrong, the movie was dumb as all get out, but I enjoy that kind of thing once in awhile.

I chalk it 2 notches above cocaine bear…lol
They’ll come at you even if they’re not cornered. Was sitting on a dam cross legged waiting for ducks. They were swimming around but keeping their distance. I got up to stretch the legs and spotted one under water coming in hot, clack, clack, clack went the SBE2 with 3” #2s but I started shooting while it was still submerged. The 3rd shot kinda looked like a Jaws scene. It came out at me so I wacked it with the barrel and turned him back into the water. He didn’t go under and was leaving a blood trail, swam by my buddy and he finished it off.
Beavers mix well with wolves…..well, in their bellies…hahaha

We had a beaver attack our Great Dane when I was a kid. The dog was on the lodge and it was spring so I assumed there were young inside.
I believe Seaman, the dog on the Lewis and Clark expedition was also bitten by a beaver and almost died.

I think any mammal can get rabies but usually carnivores. If a rabid Yote, skunk or coon had an encounter with the beaver it may have contracted rabies that way. Anybody's guess I suppose.

Beaver was probably just mad for being called flat and not worth as much as northern beaver.

I can remember at least 3 beavers that I suspicioned to be rabid. One was sitting on the bank on the other side of the narrow but very deep water ditch as I drove by on the 4 wheeler. I stopped and he just sat there and looked at me. He slid off into the water and swam off. It didn't dawn on me until later that the beaver may have been rabid. The second one appeared while I was making a castor set. I had turned my back and heard,"whaaa", a hoarse whispery sound that a beaver makes. I turned around and there was the beaver just looking at me. I drew my pistol and missed him the first shot and he just stayed put. I hit him the second shot. He stayed on the surface of the water and swam to a spot where the water was shallow and he was just walking in that shallow water. I waded out to him and walked right up beside him and shot him. The third was walking across a cut bean field. I drove the 4 wheeler right up to him and walked up to him and he acted like he didn't have a clue that I was there. I walked up to him and shot him. I wouldn't touch him and just left him for the buzzards. I would almost bet that 3rd one had rabies.

Many years ago I was pulling my line on the last day of the season when I spotted a hole about 30 to 35 feet up the bank that I hadn’t noticed before. The bank was at about a 30/35 degree slope. Curiosity got the best of me of course. I tied up the canoe and took off my hoody, it was a pretty warm day, and just had on a long sleeve shirt. I walked up to that hole and knelt down to look in but I couldn’t see anything but could tell it was big and deep. I leaned forward some more and put my head in up to my shoulders and when my eyes finally adjusted to the darkness I spotted an eyeball at about the 10:00 o’clock position. At that moment the ground gave way and I dropped in on by back, stunned me pretty good. Before I got my wits about me 2 beaver baled out right over my chest and scratched me up pretty good thru that thin shirt. I said to myself, “Self, this -+=/ has got to stop”

In spring beaver can become very agressive, and their speed on land is remarkable.
More than a couple times in spring I have encountered beaver on land in spring far from any water.when approached they move their heads slowly side to side like they are looking for an escape route, then without warning will charge and leap at you trying to bite.
Seen the same behaviour in late fall a couple times when I got between a beaver cutting feed up on land and the water, cutting off his escape route. They can be very agressive.
Muskrats the same.Although a muskrat leaping at your crotch is not quite as un nerving as a beaver leaping at your crotch.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

The article makes numerous references to a rabid beaver, and wardens assuming the beaver was rabid, but unless I missed it, never mentioned any confirmation of a positive rabies test. Poorly written, as that is an important fact to know.

Beaver aren't aggressive but don't corner one and don't try to take one out of snare alive. Not that I would know, lol.

I can relate to the live beaver In snares. We have to remove the beaver from city parks and we have to do It alive In snares. It's not for faint of heart.
A 60 lb beaver in a 7 foot snare on dry land Is a hand full.In the water would be nothing to write home about.

Ya ever notice how artists always seem to think beaver teeth are white instead of orange?

I completely agree on all counts. As a kid, I had a muskrat latch on to my pants cuff and hung on as I ran away screaming like a little girl. Another rat came close to the jewels as it jumped at me. I did get even with that one. I had a beaver on dry land charge me once, but I was close to my truck and got back in before it reached me.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Beavers can be strange critters. I once caught a female beaver in a 330, it appeared that she was nursing kits. There was a beaver house nearby so I thought there might be kits inside. I started tearing the house apart until I came to the nest area. There was a large beaver laying there on its back, it looked dead, so I grabbed by both back legs and gave it a heave to pull it out. It turned out to not be dead, it came to life, since I was already off balance, the beaver exiting the nest pulled me into the sharp sticks making up the house. I received quite a few cuts and scratches. I have had many experiences with beavers, but I have never had a beaver attack me.
