I purchase snares with cam locks and compression springs on two different brands of snares. When I close the snares around my wrist to test them the compression springs just hang there doing nothing. In other words, they don’t tighten or assist the cam locks. What am I missing?

Pull harder, lol.

Much harder.

All these kill springs are rated for straight line pull. I.e., 50 lbs in a straight line pull.

Incorporating the loop raises the poundage to compress the loop SUBSTANTIALLY. Which is why I prefer 25 lb springs.

I just received my order from lights out. I can’t use them here yet (a CO mentioned that we might be able to use them possibly this year, but it’s in the works) but for the price, figured I check out some pre made wolf snares. Actually pretty slick! Be much easier than hauling power rams around and I like the support and no more giant bite zone to be careful of when I’m doing my final adjustments . Got a few 12” ones that a guy can crimp on more length with some #9 wire.
This one he shipped all made up except there’s no BAW on the lock, just a wire. The pliers are nice for setting the spring.

That is a busy snare!
