Been baiting with a mix of dry cat food, catfish food, and corn for a 10% catch rate. I used to kill them with that mix. Cant use things like marshmallows, sardines, sweets, any kind of meat or fruit because fireants will cover it up in minutes. What is a good summertime coon bait?

Are you using cage traps? If so, have you tried suspending your bait in the air on a piece of wire. That's what I do. We don't have fire ants but if you leave bait on the ground, it will be consumed by other ants or insects.

Only thing ant won’t mess with in South is apple corn. Its seasonal runs. Like you buy at Academy but works well or did when i was in south dp trapping long ago

I am using dp traps. Used to catch the heck out of them using catfood. Now they ignore it.
