Ran over about 4-5 set railroad tracks at crossing about 20 mph. Didn't look bad as updated rr cross but pretty bumpy . There are far worse. Nothing really hard but hard enough . I had one expensive hub wheel bearing assembly replaced a year ago . Does it take repeated rough roads an chuckholes over longer time . To damage ball joints or front hub bearings ? Or can just one instance such as rough rail crossing damage it ? Wasn't real bad but noticeable. I try avoid rough rds an chuckholes but happens

If you took out a wheel bearing or ball joint by driving over something rough you’d know about it right away lol.

Most roads are on a replacement schedule. Every X amount of years they chip seal it, then every X number of years they repave. Only if the temporary repair measures become impossible will they go off schedule, and it takes the proper authority (city counsel, county commissioners, state board) to evaluate and approve funding for special projects like that, and then they have to put the job up for bid, etc. it’s a lengthy endeavor and by the time it’s all said and done it could be two or three years. Most of the time they will just say keep patching it until it comes back up for replacement.

Like I said, they’re on a schedule. Some roads deteriorate faster than others, depending on what contractor did the work, the weather conditions when the work was done, the soil conditions underneath the road, the depth of the water table, the amount of traffic (especially heavy traffic)
So some roads get worse than others before they get replaced. Doesn’t matter, the budget and schedule for repair and replacement is set years in advance.

It'll last alot longer if you don't drive it.

I fixed up an 85 powerwagon that I relegated to a plow truck almost 20 years ago. It had less rust than most used I looked at and it gets me where I want to go. Get yourself a little car for daily driving, there's still some to be had fairly cheap if ya watch.

Yup, get you a little car. I have a Chevy impala, always been reliable, no major breakdowns, and gets 27 miles per gallon average and you can pick one up pretty cheap. I’ve done a lot of trapping out of a little car over the years. A pickup is not a necessity

wheel hubs are inevitable as tires
if you replaced one expect the other one in 12-18 months
they aren't to bad to do yourself if you have a few tools.
now when I have a bad 1 I just replace the other one also only adds about about 45 minutes
a truck should be able to take some bumps
wheel hubs if you got more than 150K it's about that time.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Back in the day you could just pack wheel bearings with fresh grease and go. Now you buy and replace the whole assembly for 70-80 bucks if you do it yourself. Just don't round off a bolt head!. I'm getting quite good at it.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

You can pretty much take it to the bank, when one goes, the other won’t be far behind.
