I'll be y'all had fun. Looks like a redfish and some sea trout. But I'm no expert on salt water.

Speckled trout and red drum or red fish or puppy drum or channel bass or whatever folks want to call them. Our state officials calls them all of the above.

Nice!
My favorite ocean fishing was trout off the rock jettys at Indian river Del. back in the day. Now I hear stripers are the thing down there and the trout are gone?
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

NC is carrying the population for the NE for grey trout. Our Pamlico sound is. A huge nursery area for all inshore species. Due to the overfishing in the NE of grey trout we are only allowed to keep 1 fish per person per day. The limit on speckled trout is 4 per person per day over 14”. The largest one o the photo is just a hair over 23”. The drum was 22.5”. The large steel ocean going trawlers have overfished our sounds and have put a hurting on our inshore fisheries while they harvest shrimp for a couple of weeks in the Pamlico Sound.

You'll have to go back quite a few years to remember the big "tide runner" trout . . . not Weakies. They're both pretty much non-existent nowadays. Stripers are usually around the jetties and Inlet at night. . . . days gone by. :-(
