Snapping, cleaning, packing and cooking. Finally I'm done. I thought I had more quart jars then we had but I was wrong, so had to do mostly pint jars but I am finished just sitting here after supper with the brother in law and his family just listening to the "tink"

Nice !

Gratifying work.

Heck, with prices now, you have a good retirement account there.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

We love green beans. We blanch and freeze ours. My first crop is coming to an end Monday. We have about 35 pint bags. My 2nd crop will be much poorer than the 1dt.

We had an all day project too. 25 lbs of bratwurst patties. Ground the meat, seasoned it, made them all into 1/3lb patties, then vacuum sealed. Not allll day, but the better part of it.

Proudly banned from the NTA.

Bother me tomorrow. Today I'll buy no sorrows.

Looking good Salemtrapper! That is what is on the agenda for tomorrow, along with making roasted cauliflower soup, Christmas pickles, freeze drying yellow squash chips and starting to cure onions.
Patrice is planning on making a dozen loaves of zucchini bread too, gonna be a busy day. Have a lot of garden stuff ready right now. Tomatoes and peppers look
like a great crop but slow to ripen.

I missed the time window for my green bean harvest this year due to being stranded for a couple of weeks in SC with a busted transmission. but I still have enough ready canned green beans from last year to see us through till the next harvest. Yours are looking good. i like canning things and we don't do many stops in the produce else when we have to go shopping.

I'm off a few days this coming week since I have to work the weekend so I plan on doing some corn, the wife and kids like it on the cob but I rather have it off. We have plenty froze on the cob so I'll put some cans up. Problem now is finding places to stick them, I had the pantry cleaned out at one time but not naming names she made had filled it back up with all kinds of things lol..

That is a nice batch of beans. I have been blanching and vacuum sealing our last few seasons of beans. I do miss the tinking sound at times, kind of like sealing the deal, all is good.

We do mainly yellow beans. I think they are more tender. I’ve picked 3 bushels so far, picked them three times, have more to pick tomorrow.

Good looking stuff. We did 8 pints yesterday 8 Wednesday. Have more next Saturday that will be ready to pick. Last year my wife and I canned just over 200 jars of goods, tomatoes, yellow and green beans, pickled beets, strawberry, grape and blueberry jam. Nice to have all winter.

Canned some dill pickles this week but nothing as large of operation as these. I'm still eating green beans and sweet corm from last year so didn't bother planting any this year. I do miss eating the fresh from the garden produce so worked out a deal with my neighbors to rotate each year so we can exchange fresh produce with each other. Been working out good so far!

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

So, which method, blanch and freeze or canning, results in the freshest, firmest, tasting product?

I've only done the blanch one time and it was few years ago leaning to do this stuff so I may have messed it up but that is why I can my blanched ones turned to mush cooking them. Some blanch before they can, I do not.

Canned 44 quarts and 45 Pints of Bush Blue Lakes two weeks ago and will have two rows of Jades ready next week. Canned 12 quarts of crushed tomatoes today as they are just getting ripe. Will do about 36 more quarts of tomatoes then salsa and freezer corn.
