It was great to see Tom Olson at the MTA convention this past weekend. Tom has been going to conventions for decades and it was good to see him set up again, even though he has had some challenges with his hip. Looks like he is ready to get rid of his cane after recovering from hip surgery. Had a nice visit with him and hope to see him again next year in Little Falls.

Well now that you mentioned him, I also enjoyed seeing Tom. His tale is harrowing but he survived and he certainly seemed healthy. Hope he stays above ground for a long time. One of the old guards for sure!

Against my wifes strong protests--I set up at the conevention. While I was certainly interested in selling product, I also wanted the chance to see everyone again.
My daughter helped me load for the conevntion and Buzz Neprud helped me unload. So packing up for home and unloading everything when I got home, was a slow process--but I got it done.
Being laid up for the last 6 months has driven me crazy. While I may still be crazy--seeing all of you at the convention was wonderful.
I want to thank everyone that stopped by to say hello.
I see my surgeon tomorrow, and I hope he says I can continue without the cane. I still think I could beat Gabby in a race.

Tom it was good seeing you again. I almost didn't recognize you with the crew cut. As far as beating Gabby, I think if I told Gabby there was someone to chat with at the finish line, I would put $50 on the old Marine. I'm sorry, just playing the odds on that one.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

I found out that Tom is a couple years younger than I am so no. You might get there some day if you are careful, Grasshopper.

If I would have known that Tom was going to be there I would have made the trip (400+ miles 1 way). We have known each other since 1980. Lets see,,, that's 20-30-40+ years by my math. Tried to get him to make up some (1/2 gal.) of Bogmaster Beaver Lure #2 but he was not able to in early 2000. Besides he was jealous of my hat size (4-1/8th) - standard beaver trapper size was 4-1/16th when I was there. Through the years we would answer each other on here but the last 5 we have drifted some. So glad to see he's doing what he loves and his wife is still on him to temper the duties. Old trappers never die .........................., they just smell that way........................ the mike from Nebr.

Awesome news !!!!it’s good to hear Tom is okay.was greatly concerned. My daughter (foxkiddskid who frequented trapperman when she was younger) was worried about him as well. She would get on the chat room and talk with Tom and the ol Tman gang. I never ever had to worry about her being in that chat. I miss those days.

Back from the surgeon---I don't have to see him again till next april. I can wean myself off of the cane,he said around home I can ditch the cane, any new places I go to,I may want to keep the cane handy.
My new hip has remained where it should be for 4 months now,so I can bowl when our new season starts. I can also get back to trapping,I just have to see what works best for me.That would be avoiding waist deep mud and 86 pound beaver.

Spent Saturday without a cane, what a good feeling. WHILE i NEVER WENT OUT IN THE HEAT,i DID GO OUT ON THE DECK SEVERAL TIMES. I was cautious and did use the stairs a few times. First time in 6 months I wasn't using a walker or a cane.
