3" over 48 hrs. Hard form me to understand how that's going to impact them, but there's alot I don't understand.

3" over 48 hrs. Hard form me to understand how that's going to impact them, but there's alot I don't understand. In this country the water doesn’t soak into the ground easily. It’s so dry the soil is hydrophobic, and there’s lots of exposed bedrock, so it just runs off the mountain and builds steam and volume as it goes. 3” of rain at the top of the mountain becomes 6’ of water at the bottom, and it’s running fast enough to wash out interstates and mow down anything in its path. 1.46” of rain did this in Death Valley last year ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/08/full-2244-186429-890c31b9_de11_4f08_afda_91843eaff10a.jpeg)

This rain will be good for those drought stricken areas of South California. Will fill up those shrinking reservoirs. Hey...hey...hey, let's don't be putting a positive spin on a weather event! Gloom and doom only.

Another overblown, overhyped, sensationalistic story by the media.
We never learn. The media has an entire day to fill with crap. It used to be we had the evening news at 6. There were three channels That was it. An hour. The media had an hour of the day it had to fill with information. They tended to stick to a handful of topics -- world events, national politics, economic stuff, weather and sports. That was it.
Then came 24 hour, non-stop "news." They had to fill an ENTIRE DAY with stuff. Some of them just had a basic one hour collection of information and just repeated the same one hour presentation in an endless loop for the entire 24 hour period. Others delved off into the weeds to gather tiny morsels of marginally interesting stuff and broadcast that all day and night, interspersed with tidbits of actual news information.
But now, we have the internet. A blessing and a curse. The curse part is that we now have thousands of media outlets and sources who are competing for the same revenue. As a result, they ALL go ALL DAY AND NIGHT broadcasting ANYTHING under the guise that it warrants your and my attention. We know every detail of the Kardashians' lives; no clothing fashion goes unnoticed and we have to dissect every aspect of any sporting event play/pitch/pass/kick/serve/stroke and repeat each one 4-5 times in reverse angles and at various speeds of slow motion.
One truth should become crystal clear. The media only makes money by demanding our attention. The more they hype a news story, the more revenue it generates. As a result, every storm cloud suddenly becomes a cataclysmic event of biblical proportions . . . but they rarely fulfill our expectations which are based almost entirely on the media's rabid, over sensationalized dramatics. There is no one to hold the media accountable for all of its erroneous over-selling of any event. The media thrives on controversy, emotions, conflict -- those things are the juice that makes a good "story," and if they have to create some of the juice, that's no problem. In the end, the media is nothing more than organized, highly profitable falsehoods. Let's call them what they are : Liars of the first order.
But as long as you and I keep falling for the idea that the media is providing accurate or meaningful information, they will just keep shoveling us the same old recycled excrement dolled up in fancy graphics, attention-grabbing soundbites, and colorful packaging.
