Our company does it every day. Every day. Felons get the nod over non felons. Iowa gives $20,000 worth of tax write offs for every felon you hire. Every one. We have dozens on the payroll. Some for some very very serious crimes. Some in prison for years. People with a good background never get the job. MD

Depends on what his felony was for and what the circumstances surrounding it were.

Lots of states give felonies for minor offenses. It would depend on the felony and the felon. My job will NOT hire felons but since you can't always just deny someone based on their record, my company has all applications go through an outside company that only looks through the applications and sends us the "qualifying" ones. WE never turn down anyone. We just never get their application. wink

Seems a bit shady, but that's how it is.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Fresh one right out, I doubt I would. If they've been out a spell, probably.

I have and will. I interview everyone. If they tell me about it - sometimes it works out. If they lie about their record I will find out. Every felon I have hired so far I have fired. Not one has stolen or committed a crime. It's just things like being late or no call no show. - I have others for that too.

Just passin through

DITTO, I have one guy with a weapons charge, he had a scoped rifle in the back seat of a truck covered up with a couple coats and was stopped driving through Denver. Concealed weapon without a license. 2nd offense. Don't hunt around there and drive home in the evening and not THINK!

I would but he is my cousin
might be a few more that have very specific felonies I would definitely be picky.
and it couldn't be for my current employer

wife's and sons work hires them every day and lets them get away with anything , I assume like IA , WI gives employers some tax credit for the way that HR protects them.

I don't have to work with felons because of the work we do everyone has to have clearance to sensitive information.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Not allowed to hire a felon, as they have to handle firearms. Now if they get it expunged then yes I would hire them.

Depends on the felony and the job. I may end up a felon some day the way they keep changing and adding laws. Barring something I don't see ad a serious crime yes.

Even scum could be used/useful in the right circumstances.

Worked with a lot of felons each one is their own person most stupid moves are under the influence of drugs and alcohol some are just a waste of good oxygen most are people with problems like everyone else.

I worked with one years ago. Good hard working guy. He'd learned to give up drinking and fighting and was a great employee.
