We had a machinist that worked in a job shop with us years ago that had a felony conviction. Was the best TIG welder we ever had and a super good CNC machinist. BIL has a fabrication business, most of his crew are felons. lol Prison turns out some pretty good welders, plus they don’t seem to mind going in some of the places they have to get in for assembly. They still have issues maintaining and he’ll have to bail them out after a “rough” weekend but they would do anything for him.

But in my opinion there should never be lifetime felons. Either a full citizens with full rights or incarcerated no in between. Either you have fully paid your debt or you're to dangerous to be free. This. I'll also say that a lot of these guys on here that say they never would, probably work with felons every day without even knowing it. There are a lot of "minor" felonies out there these days and a lot of people who have got in trouble for them. Most people don't bring it up in everyday conversation.

Mary Jane used to be a felony Still is everywhere if you grossly exceed possession limits, it's sorta legal though in some states.

Depends. If I were trying to hire for a drug dealer position, or perhaps a crew to do a bank job, I would never hire a felon. Just too much risk there with a history of getting caught. Now, if I were hiring for a day care or teaching position, I'd be happy to hire a felon.

Company I worked for hired them. Prison in community. Nothing wrong with that except they hired them not as workers. Pzed me off about the 3rd one that told me to do the work his way.so he could keep track of piece count.. just .

I know two men that got felony DWIs long long ago. They both quit drinking back then but it is still on their record and held against them as a general felony in a lot of peoples eyes. I would hire them in a minute and trust my life and my families lives with them. Not all felonies and circumstances are created equal

Why would anyone hesitate to hire a released felon?
They are all a graduate student from from the Dept of Corrections. It doesn't matter how they thought before: they are with the program today.

It goes to show you what they think of their own training program.

This makes me think... A term in the slammer should be graded. No letter grade, just pass/fail. - Pass warrants return to society unconditionally
- Fail: sorry nice knowing you
