Love it when people like to get on their high horse and talk about what is and isn't "real fishing" help mod a catfish group and these types are all over.
Trot Line ? Nope that not real fishing ? Limblines ? Nope , fish finders ? "That just cheating ', more then one rod ? "Well that might as well be poaching because my daddy always said " yadda yadda yadda most of the time they can give a argument that doesn't basically just boil down to " if you not sitting there holding one rod casting around and just waiting for a bite like is the lottery then it's not actual fishing". Waste of time talking to them folk moa tof the time but made me wonder. Is hand lining counted as real fishing ? grinheck all I got is some 20lbs mono wrapped around a bottle and drop shotting down old breakfast sausage using steel nuts as weights grin don't think I can get much "realer" than this laugh

Side note , drop shot rigs are super over looked for catfish IMO

If you get fish from the water to the pan, its real fishing.

Let's go Brandon

I don’t know who you hang around with, but you need to bring yourself down to south Louisiana. I run hoop nets, wire net nets, trot lines, limb lines, jugs, noodles and everything else I can legally throw out there. Never had one person say it isn’t real fishing.

When I fish for green trout (bass for you fancy folks) and sacalit I have better electronics than a cruise missle sub.

As long as the captain don’t mind you dropping lines, go get’em!

Well I don't know, If that plastic bottle didn't cost you a least 200$ you aren't putting enough "effort" into it. laugh

Hand lines work and are east to haul along.

1/4 sticks of TNT work well but don’t forget your net

All the illegals would use those when i was growing up and shove their hands in their pockets and bottles on the ground to avoid getting checked for licenses.

Tell them you're more interested in catching than fishing at this particular point in time.

That's bottle fishing, not reel fishing. No reel involved! grin

Same thing goes with bowhunters, if you're satisfied that's all that matters.

Used to catch bluegills and rock bass when I was a kid with just a hand line.

Wolfie -

If it's in the water, and you're pulling out edibles, it counts as real fishin'. Good for you, man!

real fishing involves guantlets with bottle caps glued to the fingers.

You get a lot of the snobbery on methods of take when the game has changed from a you need to catch a few fish to survive till tomorrow to guys that have 100k+ in a truck, boat and gear to specifically target a fish that they have no intention of eating.
