I have been looking for some cat tail tops. We don't have any marshes in these parts local. The neighbor needs a few for making some sunflower crafts.

Put a hot wire around it and turn some hogs in there. They will wade out and dig up the roots and eat them. That will thin them out. There is a spray that is approved for killing cattails.

If I run across any I’ll grab them up but I don’t know how good they’ll be if I ship them.

She is going to pull them apart for the brown fluff to glue on to some foam pieces to form the seed head of the sunflower. An old-time trapper, small time lure maker from my area I knew as a very young man used the cattail fluff for a lure base thickener for his beaver lure. I think it was a great idea. I still have a jar he gave me back in the late 60"s. The material is quite useful and durable, not to mention, free and organic in nature.
