Looking at buying one. Something with about 100,000 miles on it. Seems to be the most reliable truck on the road. What year should I stay away from. I'm looking at 2006 to 2013. Whose got one within those years? How do you like it.

What about the years that broke in half because the frames disappeared? I envy your used vehicles in Kansas. My buddy just got a mid 90’s chevy 2500 4*4 with ZERO rust for 850 bucks from Kansas. Yes it runs/drives fine. Those year of Chevy trucks hardly exist here. He’s torn on whether he should drive it till it rusts away or sell it for probably 5-6k.

Just don't get one from an environment where they rust. Just do a google search for Tacoma's that have broke in half because of rusty frames. Not kidding. I have a 2006, it came from Hawaii and made it's way to Denver where I bought it. No problems so far but I have put only about 25,000 on it.

That's still just getting broken-in.

I have an 07 with 230K on it. I put a starter and water pump on it in 2018 and that is all I have done. I pull a trailer too much so tires and brakes don't last me long but that's on me, not the mgfr. The 5.7L likes pulling a load, it is a beast.

I had a 1999, and still have a 2014, both were brand new, the 98 could run circles around the 2014, still have the 14, sold the 99 with 350,000 miles for 4 thousand, still ran like a champion but the seats, AC, radio had quit working, sold it in 15 minutes putting it on line.

Got a 08 TRD Off- Road with a 4.0 about to hit 100K, currently in the process of changing diff & transfer case fluids, then a radiator & transmission flush.

Then new belts & hoses...It's one of them northern trucks with frame rust, but nothing critical yet.

Yearly slathering of used motor oil keeps the frame corrosion in control.

Have a 13 TRD sport 4-door with long box (6ft). Has been a great truck so far, no complaints. Other brand trucks ride better, have more bells and whistles, and even get better gas mileage.....but I doubt they will outlast it smile I cant speak for the 3rd gen Tacomas, haven't even ridden in one.
