That last guy Atkins was an older gent in good shape that ate meat that fell on the ice and split his head open so you can die healthy. whistle

Compare how long our ancestors lived versus the average life span today. A good part of the reason for the longer life span is a better understanding of how the human body works and advancements in medical technology.

Life span increase can be attributed to clean tap water and refrigeration...

The biggest driver for longevity by far is vaccination.

Another word for medical technology. Many diseases have been cured by medicines.

What I described lowered mine Law Dog. Fat is important. Butter, sour cream, avocados, olive oil are good sources if you don't like animal fat. Fat plays a role in regulating blood sugar. Try giving up grain and potato's.

Consult or at least inform the doc when you are making any drastic changes to your diet or daily activities, especially if you are on meds.

Danny fat is my saving grace my cholesterol is good and I’m not a big salt fan so I avoid sugar at all costs but I do fat foods with the lower saturated fats.

Lots of those people lived shorter lives to from exposure to smoke because they burned wood for heating and cooking.

A good trick to temporarily lower blood sugar is to drink a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water before/after meals. Its proven to lower blood sugar.

Another hack is to drink hibiscus tea. It also works. I drink it daily. Taste good too.

Giving up sweets is not enough if your prediabetic. All carbs turn into sugar in your body. So eating oatmeal is eating sugar, eating grains is eating sugar, fruit, is sugar, juice, beer, eating rice, potatoes is the same as eating sweets. Your body tuns it into sugar then stores it as fat in your arteries and increases blood pressure and all the other bad things that go with it.

Of course you can exercise and burn it off, and not worry about it too.

Another important tool to get healthy is fasting. Humans were not meant to be fed 24-7 we were cold and hungry a lot and fasting can work wonders for lowering blood sugar. Its not hard just skip breakfast and dont eat until lunch or later if you can. It cleans out all the glucose out of your blood stream.

And one more thing worth repeating. Dont restrict salt intake or cholesterol. Salt is very important mineral/electrolyte our body needs to be healthy. I restricted my salt for years and felt terrible until I started usiing it again. I instantly felt better.

Cholesterol is very important because testosterone needs to attache to cholesterol molecules. Low cholestrol = low testosterone.

I've been on a healthy eating diet for a while now, and macro tracking just isn't my thing. I prefer a more holistic approach to my diet.
This approach is described in this guide. But to keep it short, it's all about listening to my body and practicing mindful eating. I also focus on including a variety of whole foods in my meals, making sure to add plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. And I never skip a meal.

It really depends on what you want to do.

Decrease body fat percentage.

Lose weight.

Gain muscle.

High aerobic activity.

Best money I ever spent was consulting an exercise nutritionist. Not a dietitian.

I track using myfitnesspal. I was eating 3600 calories per day with moderate protein higher carbs and moderate fat. This was to gain muscle.

I am not eating high protein lower carbs and low fat. I am gradually decreasing carbs and keeping my protein high. I try to eat lean meats and my carbs are quinoa, rice and potatoes.
I have two small bread rolls about an 30 minutes before I work out and it helps a lot with energy.

Just remember, your body and metabolism are unique. Your body may love fat for energy. It may love one food and not another. Remember you are trying to find your combination. It will take several months. Track a specific macro combo for 6 weeks and see what happens. Adjust if you are losing too much weight or gaining.

I tried a high fat diet and my body loved it so much I gained 2% body fat from what I was before I started. Because of this I have to watch my fats. I have t time my carbs and I eat and drink protein all day long.

It will take time but be patient. Get a pro to help you. It is money very well spent. First thing they are gonna want is a list of everything you eat in three days. Biscuits, candy, meat, veggies, everything. Don't be embarrassed or hold out. They are checking your macros and adjusting.

Give it a try.

You dont need to be in shape, or a muscle man, and exercise is great, dont get me wrong, and I do myself. But you cant exercise your way out of a bad diet, you get old someday and cant push it, if your diet dont change it will catch up. Some are out of shape now and vigorous exercise trying to get in shape could kill them.

Consult a knowledgeable dietician /change your diet first.
