I was talking to jerry the other day and told him id like to have some pawpaws. He came through, ( they're everywhere wher he works) and brought me some home.
He hesitantly asked me what was gonna make out of em..he doesnt.like em..lol

I told him nothing, im.gonna SELL em..he said "oh BS"

Long story short..I sold the ones he brought home, quick last night.

I sent a message to him to bring more home.

He said I could sell ice to an eskimo.lol

I sold em for 10.00 a gallon bag.

I love making money off things other people don't think to sell.

Were gonna go get a bunch Saturday and set up.along the road Saturday evening and sell em.

I wish they grew here in MN. It sounds like they're very nutritional; good natural vitamins and minerals.

As an American I'm growing tired of our ancestors being compared to the migrants of today.

Paw paws are so rich its like eating a sweet pudding. You can only eat about one and you're filled up. But nutritionally its about the only fruit out there that has essential fatty acids in their make up.

Just had some last weekend. You gotta get them at just the right time for the best taste. Reminds me of an over-ripe banana taste. I wrapped a bag of seeds in a damp paper towel and put them in an open ziplock bag in the beer fridge in the shop, same way I do chestnuts. Should be good to go next spring. There are several on my friend's property but none on mine...... until next spring.

Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

Around here people are selling them from 50 cents to a dollar each.
Cathryn how many are in your gallon bags?
I'm guessing around 10 + depending on they're size.
The seeds aren't a guarantee to grow , some sprout quick , others may take all summer.
Heard of some taking a couple years to sprout.
Yes having the seeds in a moist paper towel and kept in a refrigerator is how you get them to sprout in the spring.
Pawpaw groups recommend using paper towel tubes to grow them in , to allow the roots to grow deep.
Use a pot with the tubes in it, fill with good soil and plant seeds just an inch or so deep.
At least that's what I learned from one member in one group.
I just put them in a pot , and they sprouted , at least 1/3 of them did.
Had them in pots for 3 years because I didn't have a place to plant them.
They over wintered in the pots , which surprised me the first year.
My daughter didn't want them , so I gave them to friends.
I would recommend planting in the ground where you want them , and fence them in so squirrels and rabbits don't get the young plants or the seeds.
Then fence to protect them from deer as they get bigger.
They can grow into fairly large trees over time.

Last year I bought hazelnut trees from a guy, who had bought 250 pounds of spoiled pawpaws to get the seeds out of them to grow. He had them macerating in a watering trough and was black, up past his elbows, from squeezing the seeds out, under water. He sells huge numbers of small trees for $10.00 to $20.00 each, at 2 locations near Columbus, Ohio.

It's basically our only native fruit tree. Don't think they can grow up in your area without some tricks.

Never heard of them either.
Google says they contain a neurotoxin and overconsuption in some places has led to parkinsons like symptoms.

Itot would be pretty kard to over consume pawpaws unless you're eating them as your only source of food.
