I have a good friend who is an independent insurance agent. He's also a fellow trapper and member of ITT. He was able to set me up with home, auto, and life insurance for a small fraction of what I was paying. https://www.facebook.com/podhaskiinsuranceinc/ - (563) 488-3925.

Yea in this day and age if you aren't letting an independent agent shop for you, then you are more than likely way over spending. I switched to Auto Owners for vehicles a couple of years ago, a buddy of mine is an independent agent. I had Nationwide before them. Auto Owners saved me a considerable amount of money and they handled my deer pickup collision to my satisfaction.

AutoOwners insure commercial property. I second Gus’s recommendation to find an agent who represents them.

I have state farm and there rates have went up alot. Iam thinking of shopping around.every time there's a hurricane or tornadoes that does alot of destruction our rates go up.if you live where hurricanes happen then you should pay higher rates why should I have to pay for it if I don't live in that area.

It's all fine until you need to get covered and paid from damage. You may save money with certain companies but when you file a claim, it's like pulling teeth to get the money. I have American Family. I got a new roof in July from hail damage. They worked with the roofing company very soon after I filed the claim and was all taken care of very promptly with no problems.

I switched from State Farm to farmers one time a big mistake now I’m back to State Farm’s, my auto did raise a bit due to the fact of some law raised liability limits which I already have maxed out due to additional umbrella protection and yes I’ve had claims with them a few times and have always been happy with the results.
Problem is some people use an insurance company for home repairs just like some people use the er as a primary care doctor which causes rates and copays to increase.

Is it possible that the insurance companies lost a lot of money covering policys during covid, I have everything bundled with State Farm, They do suck on paying out on claims. Had the back deck collapse from wet snow last March, They paid out about two thirds of the total cost of removal & replacement. Two days ago we had a tree come down and hit the side of the house, Same claims adjuster came out and said nice deck, I told him yes, but it's only two thirds nice, he didn't say a word. Now the tree damaged the edge of the roof shingles, facia & siding, crushed the generator shed. Can't wait to see what kinda payout the gets.

Yeah the price is good but ask around about the you file claims on no name low name insurance company. Hoops to jump through and denials. I pay a little more but Farm bureau doesn’t hesitate to pay. Boat claim last year , check in 2 days Premium still same. Massive hail storm hit here June 11. Over 1000 homes in 3 miles radius roofs destroyed. I called agent adjuster came out next day Got to top of the ladder and said “ Yes your roof is toast “ 2 days later gat a check for 17,000 and change.
Good luck if you need to use them !!

That's our experience with siding and State farm.

This money was to be used if any of their houses burnt down. I told him it sounded like what the Amish do, and he said that's where they got the idea. They were saving around 200-250 a year each at that time plus gaining really good interest on their 80k they had in.

In my opinion that us the dumbest ideal I’ve heard In today’s world 80,000 wouldn’t Even buy a run down trailer if a house burned. Plus contents!! I have 300,000 on my house 200,000 on contents. Cost me 1004 dollars per year.
Just for farts and giggles say neighbor kid gets bit by their dog . How far that “ self insurance “ going to go ?
Real life scenario. Meth head stole a car and ran thru my moms and dads house. Because car was stolen the owner wasn’t responsible. The meth head had no money. He got 13 years in prison. Farm bureau paid didn’t blink an eye . 40,000 to remove entire garage. Rebuilding it and one wall

Going up against State Farm is the bulk of my business and Allstate is a close 2nd.

To me, no matter how much you saved paying the premium a policy is worthless if it doesn't cover your loss.

Over the years I've had State Farm, Farm Bureau, American Family and I now have Farmers Mutual of Nebraska and most of the coverage is you get what you pay for but the biggest factor of any Insurance company is your local agent, they can make or break your coverage.

That surprises me. My ex is an agent. State Farm is their strongest competitor. In the southeast US I see State Farm roadside assistance pickups all up and down the Interstates. I was with Nationwide for years but when I settled in Arkansas for awhile they booted me off as they don't cover Arkansas. That's when I went to State Farm. It's much cheaper but as others have stated.... I haven't needed to file a claim.

I have had USAA since 1994. I have life, house and auto through them. I have had nothing but good experience with them.
