I've never been able to tell a difference between the prescription stuff and regular OTC advil/tylenol. Every time I get a prescription for pain pills, I fill it and keep it just in case, and then just take advil and tylenol.

They gave me oxy after the bilateral knee replacements, I only took one before PT for the first few sessions, It does knock the edge off the pain but not as much as you'd think, had no other effects from them , but I wasn't taking them on a schedule.
They wanted you to extend the oxy with tylenol and ice, the tylenol does nothing for me.
If you have severe pain take the pain meds, if one gives you trouble let the doc know and they'll give you something else. Trying to tolerate the pain isn't good for healing.

I use them when ever I go to the dentist plus the gas, I'm very anxious when in a dentist chair, used them when I had a hernia repair many years ago when there was no restrictions on them, never wanted a refill, helped me get around better as well.

Yes some are addictive when used to much for some people, but the majority of people will find them helpful per prescription.

I also use them for kidney stones once or twice every three years when the Doc says so to help pass them, saved me a lot of dollars from them not roto rooting me to get them out, although I have changed my diet severely, the stones still plague me continually !

Give cranberry juice a try. Dissolved a bunch of stones I had and no more pain!

Pain pills....no matter what they are, they are good for one thing,

A buzz and a good buzz if you add a can of beer.

Pain wise to muscles, back etc, gummy bears do better, they taste good at least with the same result

Magnesium Citrate and mineral oil work very well. Pretty soon this kind of conversation is going to become way to common on an old guys website.

Any medicine that contains a warning not to take with alcohol, will normally work much better with alcohol. Seems to be my experience when I was younger. Now I listen to the doctor.

Taking too many of those Advil for too long will rot out your kidneys/liver.

Will cause High blood pressure too.

Just saying................!!!

I have nothing clever to put here.

You say it is bad news, why take it. Sometimes you have to think a little for yourself, about what the Doc says. They often are seeing $$$ signs, not your best interest.

No,that would go against their hippocratic oath.
I have dealt with doctors in a couple different countries and they all take their oath very seriously.
Dont know about in the states where everything revolves around money-could be different I suppose.

I have heard the new doctors don't take the oath any more. Since abortions and assisted suicide. ??

But lot of water and stool softner for couple days will remedy that.
Funny before the herion and fentanyl deaths started being lumped in with pain meds Dr would give them to you for a sinus headache. Pain meds aren't the problem . VERY rare a death from overdose is pain pills.

But believe what the media is feeding you. Funny how same ones believing if you take 2 pain pills you are an addict scream covid is just media pushed sickness.

You can get addicted to coffee. Raise your hand if you MUST have your coffee before you start your day .......

Never taken one before, but I had a preacher that I was selling hay to one time basically in tears because he got addicted to pain pills after a surgery. Saw my dad take a a dose for a day or 2 for his back(prescribed) and he never took anymore, flushed em i think. Pain meds might not be the problem for a lot of people, but I bet there are some people that were prescribed them who would argue differently. I do agree that caffeine may be the most addictive substance on earth.

Took one Vicodin after surgery. Didn’t do anything for me and I turned the rest in to a drug take back program…I don’t need that crap sitting around and potentially falling into the wrong hands.
