.......whatever that means.
The definition of "indigenous" is; "inhabiting a land from earliest times". So, my understanding is that anyone who lives in the land of their long gone ancestors is indigenous.
So an Irishman living in Ireland is indigenous, a Swede living in Sweden is indigenous, a Gwich'in living in northern Alaska is indigenous. This sort of makes since if you accept the official definition of indigenous.
However, I assume that once that person moves away from their ancestral lands, they are no longer an "indigenous person".
So, a Gwitch'in living in Seattle or Anchorage is no longer an indigenous person. Same with the Swede or Irishman living in America.
The thing that makes me scratch my head is that I only hear the term "indigenous person" applied to people who have some shade of brown to their skin. I never hear it applied to indigenous Europeans. Maybe I am just missing something.

These special days IMO are just an attempt to divide us as a country, we are all Americans regardless of where our ancestors come from or what color our skin is. We are all homo sapiens so on that note HAPPY HOMO SAPIEN DAY I dont think St Paddys day divided anyone.except for the odd bat fight. But that animosity didnt last long, went away after the hangover.

The word indigenous,as a derivative of the word indigent seems like a slur to me.

We are all homo sapiens so on that note HAPPY HOMO SAPIEN DAY Absolutely. The globalist are trying to divide us and bring back tribalism so we are busy fighting among ourselves while they take control. America is founded on the idea that we are all equal. We give up our tribal affiliation's once we become American's. We are American first.

Jeff, that reminded me. When Americans go to another country, the locals call them Americans. No matter what race they are.
I saw video of a well traveled black couple , who had enjoyed visits to Africa several times, in various cities. They say, no one calls them African Americans, no more than they themselves label each other, Kenyan , Congo , Burundi , Africans , etc. . They take one look at that couple, and call them Americans.
The concept of separating according to race in country, isn't even part of their thinking .
We are Americans. Period. Legally. And proud of that.

Maybe I am just missing something. Guess you never heard of the Sami people. Funny you should mention that. My maternal grandmother was Sami and lived nearly her entire life in Michigan. Does that mean she was "indigenous"? Or would she have needed to live in northern Sweden to be indigenous? Heck, maybe I'm indigenous? Can I get special hunting privileges in Sweden?
