What are some of yalls easy ways to eat rice? I know it's a southern thing. I just put a little butter, cinnamon, and sugar on some and it was very good.
Is it good cold?

You can add anything to rice either cooked in it, or add to it. Shrimp, chicken, egg, etc. :-)

You left out the raisins and milk, half and half or whipping cream. 20 seconds in the microwave and lets eat. Of course brown rice 10x better than white.

Or put a little rice and some raisins in with the egg custard before you bake it. Enough to rise to about 1/4 the way up from the bottom.

Get a can of rotel tomato's and green chili. A package of polish sausage. Put the tomato's in a blender and puree. Slice the sausage. Fill the can with chicken broth. Put everything in a pan. Add a can of rice. Salt pepper garlic. Cook it covered till the rice is done.

Biggest thing for me is for it to NOT be white rice. Long grain wild rice is much better. You don't have to make a desert of it for it to be good. LGWR with chicken or shrimp and chopped onions and peppers makes a great one pot meal. Venison medalions with stir fried onions and peppers on LGWR is hard to beat. Canned venison with gravy on LGWR is good too.

Brown rice tastes better, has a more pleasant consistency and is better for you then white rice. Since brown rice takes longer to cook, many people just make white rice instead.

I like rice with stir fries, with buffalo chicken, in soups and occasionally as a side. We don't eat rice very often.

I had wild rice yesterday, so I made some chicken and rice soup last night. I thought it was really good. And it was soupy weather.

Mom would make what she called two step chicken. She cooked boneless chicken breast in a bag with whatever salsa you like and threw it over white rice something simple and easy.

Dirty rice, make mine with chicken livers, but ground beef, pork or sausage is good.

Boudin.

Yellow rice with pork chops.

I'm not picky. I'll eat it as a filler with black beans (protein value only). Sometimes I'll use chicken broth instead of water. Sometimes I'll add shrimp and veggies.

It's rare for us to eat just plain white rice but when we do there is usually a gravy of some type on the table as well.

The missus likes beef tips and rice. That's one of those old mess hall dishes that I try to avoid.

I might make up a rice pudding this week since this topic came up. But that raises another question, raisins or no raisins.

I'll pass on the raisins since I'm eating rice to combat diarrhea.
