I don't like them either and despise going in as well, but they are the cheapest option we have anywhere nearby. Cheaper than Fareway and way cheaper than HyVee, our only other options locally. There are a few exceptions such as sales and they don't carry everything I want. So I'lI go to the other places occasionally, spend more to pick out my own produce and meat at the other places sometimes as well. It never was that way pre-biden, Fareway was almost always cheaper then but it's not anymore.

I know a guy who has worked there for quite a few years and likes it. Good pay, good benefits.

I love the self checkouts. I usually just run in there for a small list of things and I can get in and out in a hurry by going through the self-checkouts. Their prices are better than most everywhere else. Always get my oil changed there, fast and cheap when they have enough staff. Great place to get tires too. their road hazard on their tires has saved me a lot of money over the years.

They are Definitely having staffing issues just like everywhere else.

One of mom's cousins worked at NASA for many years. He was one of the top mathematicians in the entire World. When he retired, he started working at Walmart and worked there until he died. It never made any sense to us. He could have found someting more important to do, or just lived well on his pension and inheritance. I guess it was something to do, that was less stressful. He liked working there.

Maybe the old bird liked looking at all the hot women that hang out at the Wall Mart.

I don't shop big box stores unless I have too, I stick to local Mom and Pop stores even tho I may pay more for some of their items.

I have yet to use a self check-out a d hopefully never will. I figure if they can't even have someone to check you out, how's their other services going to be?

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Hard to believe in this booming economy anybody is closing up shop. Things are so good right now and no mean tweets.

Walmart never was cheap on a lot of items you have to watch them , ALDI is the place and they pay their employees a heck of a lot more than Walmart except they run an extremely tight ship

I don't care where my wife buys groceries for our family. It's her job to make it happen.

I find the self checkout at Home Depot a bit annoying. But, it's a trivial annoyance I can easily get over.

I have a retired friend who was a district manager for Walmart and he sure isn’t poor, twenty plus years ago he said he had a woman cashier who worked 30 hours a week for fifteen years said she didn’t make a lot of money but after 15 years she retired and her profit sharing as he called it was a 485,000 dollar check not bad for someone working a little while her husband took care of the rest

Mom and pop stores?, what's that?, lol

We have a Lidle for some stuff, Shoprite, and costco, but Walmart here usually beats them on price on most things. Pays to hit them first. Produce is ok, especially if you can reach the top or back of the displays to get what the old ladies can't reach.. grin

They still have cashiers , along with the self checkouts.

Everything sucks.Stores expect you to use self checkout,,and when you do use the cashier line,,half of them expect you to bag your own groceries.I don't even like to leave the house anymore unless its to go hunting,,fishing or trapping.

Walmart wants higher minimum wage, pushing other small businesses out.

on to the self checkout thing. do you guy grumble that you now have to pump your only gas ?? vs when there was full-service stations

Raising the "living wage" is just a tool to pacify the masses as they totally tank our dollar through inflation

The only things keeping our dollar afloat were the Saudi's and our debt. That's all over with the Saudi's are now switching reserve currencies and our inflation is running away making the debt a liability and not an asset

The move to push wages up are a legislative way to destroy all the small businesses. Walmart will be one of the only ones left and regular hard working folks won't be able to afford a buggy full of groceries. Heck I can't afford a 1/4 buggy full of groceries a month

Just wait. The raise in the wages is the least of our concerns. Just a preliminary effect of what's coming

But don't worry they will cast us into world war and try to draft your daughters to keep your mind busy while they do it

My mother in law worked for Wal mart for 5 years. She had them pay her in stocks. She made a fortune.

Many people just like to work and they love people for your cousin it was never money but was more valuable to him whatever that was

I only use Walmart for the pharmacy ... anything else, if Christine buys from Wally world, it's online and shipped to the door with free shipping.
I do the grocery shopping, never use the self checkout .. don't want to learn the technology; besides I wouldn't get to flirt with the checkout ladies. grin
