I really discouraged my sons from playing football because of the potential for injuries that haunt you sometimes for life. My oldest son ignored my warnings and played high school football and was very good. As a senior he played multiple positions offence and defense and special teams. He was 6-2 and 255 pounds. Had full ride scholarship offers to multiple colleges including Iowa and Iowa State, but didn't want to go to college so he did not. At 26 he went to college, today he is 41 and still has student loan debt! LOL but at least his body is intact. Bernie didn't one or some of your sons play soccer? A lot of info coming to light about soccer and CTE. Kids and adults for that matter, sometimes get hurt in sports, it's better than staying safe in the basement.

I played a little football in high school. Wish my body was as big as my attitude, but I think I weighed 135 soaking wet. In a small school, it made me big enough to play guard and outside linebacker. My boy started playing tackle this year in 5th grade and his season wrapped up on Saturday. He played on the offensive and defensive line all year. I guess they try to let every kid run the ball at least once during the year. His only carry was a 60-yard TD. My daughter plays soccer and I am more worried about her getting hurt than the boy during football. At least he has pads on.

You's that didn't let your sons play football, good for you. We didn't let our daughter play high school football, but as far as the boys go, if they don't want to get hurt they need to learn how to play hard. Hit the weight room, and learn how to run with your shoulders low, and avoid contact as much as possible and you can play a good long while in a small body and not get severely hurt.

Awesome! First time I went to an American high school football game in Grand Forks, I was also a high schooler, it was crazy. I couldn’t believe how big it is in the States. Puts our CFL to shame, some of the high school teams probably could too!
