Hello all,

I'm curious if anyone has thoughts on If it's a good idea to quote a customer a flat price for trapping and excluding nuisance animals, rather than charging per animal caught. Including any building repairs in the price too.

Is experience really the best teacher when it comes to estimating jobs? Or is the magic hourly charge ant of you have come up with? If so how do you calculate how long the job will take?

Obviously we trappers prefer the per animal fee but my customers not so much

I understand it's impossible for us to know exactly how many animals were dealing with just by inslecting...I just want to hear some people's thoughts.

Most contractors mark up the price of materials and parts etc. Needed to do a repair, I assume this practice is fair game in the ADC and repair world?

Thanks all

I have mixed the 2 together, by explaining that there's no telling exactly how many animals there are, and the vagaries of trying to catch them.
Flat rate set up, plus an estimated catch cost, plus the actual catch cost. I've never had one complain if I reduce the cost for ease of catch or just getting lucky.

So give the guy a flat price! Your interview with the guy should tell you what’s there and you know the animal’s habits. If you think there are 3 skunks under the deck, give him a flat price for 4. You can also bring up using a 1 way to get around any pickups.
