Cold weather has arrived and most of the small sloughs are freezing up, waterfowl migration is coming thru strong but I don’t think it will last long.
Peak of the goose migration looks like it’s about here.

Great pics!
Am I the only one looking for bands or neck collars?

Trust me I spent a long time going thru a couple hundred pics checking for bands.

Well done, your pictures are so clear I could all but hear their wing beats!

The 5 or 6 artic banding crews did a record amount this last summer, so it is just a matter of time.
6-7,000 Ross geese got banded so maybe look them through.

Last week was the only time I saw any number of geese and cranes this fall, and that was way down from normal. With the weather we had it was a fly by for this part of ND. It was -4 this morning for a low and we have a thick snow cover, so I can't say I look for any to stop now.

Beautiful pictures. I remember going to Horicon Marsh with my grandpa as a kid and we would watch the geese land for hours.

Nice photos. Last week was the main migration here. Nothing now but I am sure there will be a few stragglers.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of birds are banded, I would think they would have a general idea.

Figured birds would be moving. Steady north breeze all day down here with the first freeze of the year for us. When we get that I know points north are getting it worse.

I've never eaten a snow goose, but I've heard they aren't good table fare.

Very nice shots, Tray. They flock here too , in the rivers and big lakes areas.
