I was out in the woods today with my wife, we came around a corner and pushed an eagle down the trail ahead of us. A couple hundred yards down my wife looks up and I ask her what she is looking at, she states: "Is that a bird in that tree?" Sure enough, it is the eagle hanging upside down by its feet. It was looking around and yet hanging upside down, I have never seen a bird do this much less a bird of prey. Eventually, a small bird flew past it dropped down, and flew off, the darnedest thing I have seen in some time.
Has anyone ever seen this or explain the reason for this behavior?

Vampire eagle, very common here. Keep an eye on your pets, and children!

Bat, LOL that is what my wife said! Mature large bird. It was just so weird looking! And it just hung there for around a minute of us watching.

I've never seen it, but I would assume it was sick or had an injury affecting its equilibrium.
