Anybody been there lately? Curious what you think of prices.

I went this past winter and had a great time. I would definitely go back, unlike most other places I have been in Mexico. There is definitely a very large American influence there as well.

I’m down here now. The last time I was here was 25 years ago. The prices are leaving me shell-shocked compared to the last time. 3 star hotel $200 a night after getting the pay in dollars cash discount. Restaurant faire all more than the US. Was going to get a haircut but decided $28 was more than I wanted to pay.
It’s kind of weird. Cabo is more expensive than Sweden!

It is more americanized than most of mexico. Twice as high as Mazatlan. Too many US Movie Stars and Rock Stars visiting. That said - charter fishing - the main reason I go - is still pretty reasonable. You are also there during the big offshore tournaments - which bring in a lot of business. There are some reasonable places to eat - but not at the high end resorts or around the marina. I usually go once a year. When is a good time to go for the fishing? Of course I'd rather avoid the crowds during tournaments. Looking at February-march time frame.

Of course I'd rather avoid the crowds during tournaments. Looking at February-march time frame. Really depends what you are after. Decent chance for striped marlin any month - but best Dec and Jan. I havent ever been in the Spring and I have not had great luck in the summer. Rooster fishing is best then. I like September - but you have to know a hurricane can wash you out. Maybe one of the worst months for stripes, but good for blues, sails, and can be good for tuna and mahi. October a great month - but tournament season. November is usually seeing the warm water billfish leaving - the blues, blacks, and sails - but stripes improving. The big tuna tournament usually first week of Nov - but after that, really quiets down. For eating fish, mahi, tuna, wahoo, and grouper - mid november been our best fishing. Dec and Jan for the best striped marlin fishing in the world. Whale watching season, too Wont be going this year. I have caught eight of the world’s nine billfish - with a shortbilled spearfish left. Mediterranean Sea or Kona Hawaii for that one. I will be in Kona fishing for three days first week of Apr
