Savell is spot on Illinois is ok south of Chicago if you look at a county map the whole state is red except for maybe six counties but that’s the population no different than Minnesota

I live in a liberal county of a conservative state.....but we elected a woman lib for governor.

The for sale sign will go up the day the husband puts his retirement papers in... somewhere around 9 years from now. Or if I find him a decent job in a better state.

We live in a conservative county, although that is fast changing, and we have some very liberal bag limits for hunting. I can hunt or fish almost every single day of the year if I wanted. Trapping laws are.. meh.

But the property taxes will be the death of us. 9K+ a year... won't miss that one bit.

I hate to tell everyone but there is no where to go. You can no longer move away from liberalism.

A conservative moving out of a liberal state is:

• Good for that individual
• Good for that commie liberal state
• Potentially devastating to our country.

While I can't blame the individual; I would encourage those that can to stay and fight.

100% agree with you Savell. Most people see Lincoln as the man that freed the slaves.

But instead he just made us all slaves with the National Banking System, start of a federal income tax to fund the civil war, and issued the first paper money. Real POS IMO.

Where would you go Posco? Just curious. I think you’d have to go quite a ways south or west to find a more conservative state. Maine is still one of my favorite states. Southern Maine is getting a little rough. There’s so many Massachusetts plates it’s hard to tell which state your are in. You can see the virus spreading north. Unfortunately the population centers in the south will control the north.

Probably only 3 liberal counties and Baltimore City here but even staying living in a red county we are still supporting the state policies. We planning on leaving it and taking our retirement money with us. Would like to talk the kids into coming as well but that’s a lot to ask seeing how they’d have to give up their businesses.

2020 lockdowns really screwed this place up or atleast accelerated the destruction. I live near many lakes, now every lot is full of someone from the cities, the small towns are being cleaned up and hosting art festivals and other nonsense. Farm land prices went from 4,000 an acre to 7,000 and it's sandy land that requires irrigation to get anything consistently. Local govt has gone blue, taken over by busy bodies from the cities.

All that said, I love it here and am planning my whole life here. The state income tax does make retirement here more difficult but hopefully a financial planner will be able to help with that.

My family has been here for generations. I will not let this infestation of liberals run me out. Maine used to be a good place to live, but that has changed dramatically with the influx of the Massachusetts mindset and ideologies that have transformed a once independent populace to a socialistic and nanny state form of governance. I believe there to be good people from Massachusetts, they just don't live here. I propose renaming the state The People's Republic of Maine.
