Probably only 3 liberal counties and Baltimore City here but even staying living in a red county we are still supporting the state policies. We planning on leaving it and taking our retirement money with us. Would like to talk the kids into coming as well but that’s a lot to ask seeing how they’d have to give up their businesses.

2020 lockdowns really screwed this place up or atleast accelerated the destruction. I live near many lakes, now every lot is full of someone from the cities, the small towns are being cleaned up and hosting art festivals and other nonsense. Farm land prices went from 4,000 an acre to 7,000 and it's sandy land that requires irrigation to get anything consistently. Local govt has gone blue, taken over by busy bodies from the cities.

All that said, I love it here and am planning my whole life here. The state income tax does make retirement here more difficult but hopefully a financial planner will be able to help with that.

My family has been here for generations. I will not let this infestation of liberals run me out. Maine used to be a good place to live, but that has changed dramatically with the influx of the Massachusetts mindset and ideologies that have transformed a once independent populace to a socialistic and nanny state form of governance. I believe there to be good people from Massachusetts, they just don't live here. I propose renaming the state The People's Republic of Maine.

LI, NY, once a great place, but the citidiots have been infesting the place since the 50's, gotten worse since covid, property values skyrocketing, traffic everywhere and all day. But I'm a fisherman, where am I going to go?
I'm too old to start over and wherever you land the locals don't want you there, I know.....

Sent my kids to Texas though, and while they're transplants , and Savell won't approve, lol, at least they vote the right way.... grin

Unfortunately I spend about 60% of my time in a liberal State; Washington.
I stay sane by numerous trips to Alaska every year, often for weeks at a time.

I think there is an easy explanation as to why some States have so many liberals; these states have a lot of natural beauty, and outdoor attractions. This attracts the granola-eater, hiker, and environmentalist crowd.

These States include; California, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, and the New England States. There are probably others.

Here's two pictures I took yesterday morning at our lake property, this is probably one of the reasons I put up with where I domicile.

Unfortunately the population centers in the south will control the north.

I won't leave, Gene, I love it here despite having one of the most hard-core leftist state governments in the country. If I were a younger man I might move back to Alaska though I hear that's taken a hard left turn as well.

My wife says we're too old to move from MN. But, if I were younger, I'd move to SD.

Tom Fisher was right to leave NY. It is one of the most liberal and corrupt states, even the DEC is pure political. I own a second home in Pennsylvania and that state is not better. If it were not
for family roots and advanced age I would leave in a heart beat. We miss you Tom.

I too am from this liberal state run by the inhabitants of the big cities like Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth, etc. I agree about the people from the cities buying up all of the good properties and bringing change to the more rural areas. Most all of my neighbors around the lake have come from the cities at one point or another. One is right next door to me now and is building a 2.6 million dollar "cabin" for summer recreation after paying one million fifty thousand for the existing home and garage and tearing it all down. This pic was taken yesterday during the construction of the 6000 square foot "cabin". Each beam is 57 feet long and weighs 3500 pounds The peak of the highest beam is 34 feet from the ground and the house is 106 feet long and only about 25 yards from my front door. The garage on the other side of my deeded driveway is 30X40 and will have a basement and two stories above it with living quarters on the top floor. I have lived in my house for over 51 years and have enjoyed privacy in the past. Not sure how much more of this crap I can put up with.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

"I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races, that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality ... I will add to this that I have never seen, to my knowledge, a man, woman, or child who was in favor of producing a perfect equality, social and political, between negroes and white men."

We moved to one because my wife wanted to be near the Grankids. BUT we kept our WV farm just in case and to hunt on.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

That's nothing new in this state. You guys might be too young to remember the Docking's that were in the Gov's house for several terms, father & daughter. What happens is the republicans fight each other and the more moderate republicans vote for the Dem for governor to spite the conservative republicans. That's happened for years. The one saving grace is the house & senate usually squash the liberal laws that the Gov. might try to implement.
