I agree. With a new rig and warranty I know exactly what it is going to cost me per month. With a used one there are no monthly payments but then the tranny goes out unexpectedly. It never happens at a "good time", you are without a ride for a couple of weeks and are stuck with a large repair bill IF they can find the parts.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I don't like giving the bank my money. Aka interest. I work too hard to give it away.

Get me a beer please.

if your tight on funds best to sit down and think about what you really NEED vs what you want.
Trouble is most can't do this, their wants weigh too heavy on their minds.

When new are upper 30K or more its not hard to get a used one for under 10K drive it for awhile and fix what has to be fixed.

If you have to pay someone else to fix things then it makes it harder, gotta learn to do as much as possible yourself.

Look at this way. If you get a nice truck with an extended cab you could go cruising in it. You can even swing by the senior on Saturday night and see if you can get lucky.

I have heard this a million times. I guess it's what you want. Myself I prefer no payments. No payments mean I'd I want to change jobs. Get hurt, ect I don't have a bill that is due each month. Over looked is licens plans are cheaper as is auto insurance. Save you money that would go to a payments plus the other savings and when it's time for a repair or new vehicle you can pay cash.

To many people buy into its got a warranty an new = problem free. And that's not the case. New breaks also.

O and incase anyone is wondering I paid 3400 3 years ago for a 97 ranger with 52k miles on it and tires with the nipples still on it. But the tires were 11 years old and one blew out at 75 on the interstate 3 weeks later so bought new tires. Then the motor blew. So had a rebuit put in. It's got 107k miles now and I have done expensive repairs but am still way ahead of having $600 a month payments high insurance and license plates.

Don't buy a Ford with the Triton V8 3 valve engine, unless you want to spend $$$ to have it rebuilt.

Try some Sea Foam, that might help with that rough start if you run a couple of tanks with that. Might be way cheaper than a shop visit.

I have a 2001 Triton v8 but have no idea how many valves its got. Paid about 3300 for it about 4 years ago with 65k miles on it. Redid the front suspension and tires on it and I think 2 coil packs. Spent about 2200 more on it since purchasing it and figured it cost me about a thousand a year. Only a 2wd but 7700 package and I pull a trailer with it with a few cows now and then. Not turned 100k miles on it yet.

Give Seafoam a try. It might help, and even if it doesn't it won't hurt your truck.

You should be able to buy a decent vehicle for under 10k at a used car dealer or privately.

I always buy used I don't like payments. Plus have you been taking your truck to the same mechanic for the same problems?

New autos are not worth what they go for. Unless u have money to burn. There just not worth it of how made an what u get ..60 grand on new trucks or higher. I bought this one new, noone wanted a 5 spd manual is why. They add all stuff on ur financing. Freight from factory probly $6-$700 back in 2010. Add on to ur payment etc. Dealer then try stick u for more stuff which I didn't get. Extended warrantee, interior an some body warrantee , undercoat was additional $6-$700. All sorts stuff, ins. If u can't make payment from illness . Just anything they can sell u an they don't care if afford , sales tax is lot additional. License plates, all other stuff etc .

You want ones about how slow the warrantee work is. Is this covered by warrantee? What does this gadget do? Should I get the extended warrantee? Does Iowa have a lemon law?

Do you really need a truck? Thought you had an older backup truck. Can’t you keep that for the few times you are hauling large stuff and maybe use something else daily. I’ve seen a lot of guys run small cars and suvs trapping/fishing/hunting . Most everything seems to be standard in some version on of all wheel drive, front wheel drive traction control. Sounds like you ROW trap a lot. You really need four wheel? Around here cars and suvs are more plentiful and cheaper than truck. Id think would be way easier to find decent one in $10-15k range than a truck
