Montana Local grown Turkey w/ Oyster stuffing. Its early because we had planned to go to our sons for Thanksgiving and bring it along. BUT they all are sick and my wife's dog got a bad cut on it's foot so its hobbling along. We are doing turkey in our house for the two of us. Things don't always work out but we are thankful to have such a wonderful meal.

Pretty simple to make. Some like it and some not. I just add oysters to my stuffing and stuff the butt end. Maybe not quite that simple. There are some tricks. The oysters I buy fresh in shell-has to be this way. I steam them on my grill until I can get my shucker in em- just a little, do not cook them. I hate fighting oysters to open them. I know how but this is easier. Once they are shucked I wash them and rinse them really good maybe 4 or 5 times.
Dressing starts with dried bread.I dry it for a week.It should be cheap bread(less moisture).Just don't save all the ends and make stuffing that way.Cut celery and onion put in broken up bread.Add poultry seasoning-not to much.Cut your oysters up and mix them in the bread a long with some water but not to much water. Stuff your bird, always stuff the bird. Cook and enjoy with homemade gravy on top.

By the way if you ever can get a home grown turkey you are in for a real treat. I always buy them from the Hutterites. No cheap store bought turkey. I mean its only once a year so splurge .You will not be sorry.

I cooked a turkey yesterday to have for leftovers , we are going to my parents today with the whole family
but I like turkey and gravy leftovers and my college student said they would like any free food I was willing to give them.
so I have a big container of turkey and gravy packed up for them also.

happy thanks giving everyone

What variety of Turkey do you grow? thanks for posting. Pretty neat. Never grew turkeys as my hutterite friend raises by the hundreds.
