not rude and nitpicky He took His Daughters and they had Fun

you don't need to be mean

Didn’t think that was mean. I just look at hog hunting a little different. Sorta like some of the duck “hunts” some guys go on, lol. They aren’t hunts, they’re shoots. Same with penned up animals.

If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. Looks to me like he is trying to teach his daughters to be hunters, and I think they are off to a great start, congratulations to you all.

Great job Dad. Great experience, I have a grandson who would be a great hunting partner when they develop that interest along with their hunting skills. grin

Thanks all. The "shoot" was memorable for sure. We were out of pork and for a financial expense more "picking our own" was a choice versus the butcher shop a mile from our home. Having a young person take the life of something they are going to eat is a good life lesson in the wild or a fence. These two girls have run many a trap line with me and know the difference in the hunt we had versus a real hunt. For those coming to the defense of my daughters from the negative posts, thank you but not needed. These two girls have been enjoying this site since they were babies sitting on my lap looking at catch pics. They have been finding comments from "wanna be" mentors funny since they could read.

just out of curiosity what does something like that cost?

I definitely agree in the value of kids seeing where and how food comes from

my kids were butchering chickens before first grade , a neighbor kid stopped over asked where the chickens went , my youngest about 4 at the time very bluntly said we ate them.

neighbor kid couldn't believe that , finally his dad came over an explained that chicken on the yellow tray from the grocery starts as white birds called chickens just like we had , real eye opener for him he must have been about 8

Trappingthomas that's awesome you and your daughters were able to go do that. They sure look happy and putting meat on the table makes them appreciate it even more.
Been taking mine out since they were very young and sure like it when they ask to go with me. My oldest is 14 and still goes more often than my 11 year old. My youngest just turned 9 and think he is going to kill me with wanting to go chase everything and every day after school ,but I love it.

Trappingthomas, how much did they weigh? They look well fed. Im curious how this operation runs. Do they raise the pigs up to a certain size and then let them out? Do they let them grow in the enclosure their whole lives? Do they let them breed in the enclosure or only what they bring in? If you care to tell us. If not, I understand that too.

Feral pigs need taken out no matter how it is done. This is not an African safari after Kudu.

Everyone benefits in helping to take out those pigs. Farmers and ranchers welcome that in their fenced acres , too.

The girls will have a blast as they get more. And be so proud to have helped fill the freezer in good meat.

So we are adamant about not projecting anything antis can use against us on this site only on trapping related things and not hunting?
I didn’t mean it mean or rude, just a wording thing for me. Sorta like if I told y’all about a pheasant hunt I went on down here in Georgia and we shot probably close to 50 or so, would y’all not say anything? If I posted a picture of me and my boy standing in front of the tower they threw them out of, would you still not say anything?
Sorta like my first beaver I caught. Heck it was a crossover that looked like a dirt bike trail. I owned up real quick that it was a no brainer, but still had no clue about it until a member here talked me through it. Someone even made the comment that basically a kid could catch them there and I agreed, lol.

With that said, if my comment offended the OP you have my sincere apology. No offense was meant, just a clarification.

To the folks talking about taking out feral pigs. These dont appear to be built like feral pigs. Ferals are skinny and lean. Very few ferals could you get decent bacon out of. These appear to be much more stout than a true feral pig.
