Anybody here do it?
I've been doing it for 40± years with many different people. It can be a hoot.
Have seen 100s of deer killed doing it. Very effective.
I had a doe tag and although I can usually kill a doe out of a stand purty easy, I felt like killing one on a drive as it's been a few years.
I have a great 81 year old friend and he wanted to walk a mile stretch of riverbottom to me this morning.
Snuck into a good looking spot, found a deer trail in some real thick pig weeds, climbed onto a fallen log and waited.
Seen deer coming. Locked onto a mature doe and I whistled when she was where I wanted her.
4 yard shot, 15 yard recovery.
It's just fun doing it like that.

I’ve done it once when I was much younger. I won’t lie, a doe and yearling came hauling butt and I lead the doe and nailed the yearling. Luckily it was a doe yearling. I like your method better, lol. Great shooting!

I did it when I was younger a time or two. Deer drives are my favorite way to hunt them, no matter the weapon.

Did a few times years back. I still remember the sound of my arrow hit that oak tree. Didn't recover the broadhead.

Me and a buddy do one on one’s quite a bit.Sometimes it seems so easy other times you wonder if it’s ever going to work again-like lately.

Nice doe Dave. The first two deer I got with a bow were drove. I had a buck and a doe tag. Three of us walked in and I stopped and the other two kept going down a brush line along the river. A doe snuck back by them right away and stopped about 20 yards out and I double lunged her. About a half hour later I see a fork horn sneaking out ahead of the two drivers. I doubled lunged him at about 10 yards. It was my first year bow hunting and my first two shots.

When we had an archery shop years back we had some organized drives always a good time hunting in a group.

We used to do them on the islands in the Mississippi River. Worked like a charm 1 pusher towards 1-2 shooters

I've killed a few deer with crossbow that got chased off by ATV's on adjoining properties before. Does that count?

Poscoe. Been there/ done that. Lol.
Bvr, no. Just buddies doing it. Usually late season.
Mad scientist. Most everything we make drives in are river/ creek bottoms. Makes it way more predictable then big woods. By late season, I usually have a good idea where the deer are.

ADC, yep, such a fun change up from just sitting in a stand.
Jalstad...., absolutely. Slow n quite.
SW, it's actually (usually) easy. The key is to sit in tight cover and have the drivers go slow n quite.
We don't shoot running deer.
That's awesome MJM!.
LawDog. Years ago, we'd have up to 30 people doing it. Got chaotic at times. Lol.
Mnsp. I can imagine it was fun.

most people wouldn't classify that as a drive
the trick is your 81 year old friend probably did it very slow so they just pushed at you a little and not really ran.

I have not done it with a bow did it a lot with a shotgun

my Great aunt was "driving" like that till she was about 84 she was a great driver , moved slow with her ski poles and compass

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

The club in our area meets every weekend. Very productive early and late season. During the rut there’s about 25 to 30 guys every day for a whole week. I’ve shot decent bucks and seen some monsters taken.

Did some when we were young. Definitely a way to make something happen but it sure had a negative impact on our normal stand hunting after that. It would move some deer off the property for extended periods and make the rest pretty wary for awhile. I like hunting deer that don't know they are being hunted. In our narrow strip of habitat here it was hard to keep the deer moving slow no matter how slow the driver walked.

Yes sir, most drives we make are late season as yes, it does impact deer movement for a few days.
We try to avoid doing them if there are others hunting but few hunt here anymore so it's almost a non issue.
